I best work with people who would like to have more good days than bad ones, and are looking to find relief from emotional suffering that just seems to persist. I create a safe space for my clients to start the therapeutic process wherever they may feel ready to begin, and look to embolden them to openly explore these target areas of their lives. In time, we can build skills to help you navigate your emotions with more ease and work to resolve some of the causes.

I help teens and adults identify unhelpful coping behavior, become aware of their reactions, learn to communicate their feelings and accept their strength.
Are you feeling stuck or lost? Feeling overwhelmed and misunderstood? Maybe you aren't even sure of what you're feeling but know that you're not feeling yourself. You might be looking for some clarity while not having the support that you need. Life can come at us unexpectedly and we are left grappling with coping with these changes and stressors. It's possible these life stressors are even bringing up uncomfortable past experiences or increasing your anxiety. We all can use support in order to better cope with life changes and better understand our reactions and interactions with others.

Some of my work has focused on assisting adolescents and young adults evolve their relationships with their parents by finding common ground, improving communication, and fostering mutual understanding.
I typically work with families, parents, adolescents, adults, and couples. I focus primarily on adjusting how one feels, behaves, and thinks within relationships. My style tends to be casual, relaxed, and thoughtful. I approach therapy with a directness and light demeanor that reflects my optimism about your ability to reach your potential. With that being said, one of the most important parts of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, which makes finding the right fit essential.

Parents often worry about their child when alarming behaviors emerge. Challenges that arise in childhood can impact one’s mood, how one copes with stress, and identity formation. Similar issues can arise for parents who may be experiencing this role for the first time, impacting one’s ability to bond with their children. Early intervention can support children as young as infancy to promote healthy functioning into adulthood as well as support parents who may be experiencing difficult feelings related to their own history.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
