Therapy is about you! It is only natural for humans to want to understand why they feel the way they do; desiring to connect with their experiences. Therapy is the personal process of helping us grow in understanding ourselves, our relationships, and our history. Everyone has their own story to tell. With therapy we can begin that journey of discovery, helping to uncover parts of our personal stories that may have felt very disconnected for a long time.

I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy is a space where you can safely explore your deepest emotions and scariest thoughts, learn and practice new skills, and find additional resources. I can support you as you grow into the version of yourself you feel most proud to be. I can help you grow as an individual, improve your relationship as a couple, or help break unhealthy cycles in your family. I also work with divorced/separated couples who are co-parenting - this can be really difficult work, but it's so important for the health of your children and family in the long-run! Whatever your goals are for therapy, it takes

Time and Again ...we give our best efforts to rediscovering the marvelous qualities common to the early stages of falling in love and to evoking the richer dimensions of family life, and yet... We end up ...confused and disappointed, broken-hearted, enraged and ready to quit. Why? Because ...few of us were taught how to cultivate the emotional resources and practical skills for negotiating the daily complexities of living and loving. But the art of living --like all art--requires skill, discipline and persistence. Individuals and families who take this path do so because their love for whom they love demands it.

(I currently have some limited immediate openings!) Therapy is a journey that an individual needs to be ready to partake in; what that journey looks like is up to the person seeking it. I offer support in my clients' journeys. I provide a safe, understanding, non-judgmental environment, that is focused on support and respect. My goal is to help others through trials and tribulations that can come with life, and to help them heal by balancing life along with mental health. I am LGBTQ+ friendly and strongly believe in supporting all minority populations (Yo hablo español).

I work with people who are ready to take control of their mental health, experience relief, and build resilience. My treatment philosophy is "together, forward" and I work with you to neutralize emotional pain, transform negative thoughts into an empowering growth mindset, and replace problematic reactions with healthy habits. I believe treatment should be goal-oriented, time-limited, and cost-effective and you can expect to develop specific goals, regularly track progress, and train outside of session to ensure therapy is working.

I believe the human spirit is very resilient and capable of continued growth and development throughout our lives. However, at times, each of us can feel overwhelmed by life's challenges. Strategies that worked previously are no longer providing results, leaving us feeling frustrated, lost, or despondent. During these times, there is benefit in seeking outside, objective counsel to help overcome the current challenge and assist one in returning to a healthy, productive life.

Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.

Life is full of stressors, transitions, past experiences/trauma, and often leads to feelings of anxiety, sadness, stagnation, and frustration. Setting goals and solving problems can feel impossible, and overwhelming to do on ones own. I admire the strength it takes to seek out therapy, and starting one’s journey to healing. I would love the opportunity to assist in your growth. I have experience working with individuals and families who struggle with anxiety, depression, transitions, and trauma; and use non-judgmental, client centered, and strengths-based approaches.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
