My experience includes private practice and work with courts, state/county divisions of child and family welfare, foster care/ adoption, high schools and colleges, My expertise extends to adolescents and adults focusing on attachment, trauma, grief and loss, anger management, adjustment to sudden life changes, depression, anxiety, and parenting.
We are all involved in a constant effort to balance our lives; to restore belief in our own power to face challenges that are sometimes overwhelming. We want someone to hear our story in a safe and non-judgmental space in order to gain fresh insight into our own abilities and to recover from the initial feelings of helplessness and confusion. Individualized guidance, can lead to the discovery of one’s own strengths and a gradual movement towards solutions that can be developed, in partnership, to restore that balance that we all strive to maintain when challenges leave us without answers, defeated and feeling powerless.

I work with individuals, families, teens, and couples on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, life transitions, 2SLGBTQ+ issues, substance abuse, communication and interpersonal relationships, as well as the complicated issues associated with Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorders.
Compassion, respect and inclusion are the core values of my practice. Change hits us all differently, so therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My goal is to help you explore your authentic self, to develop the talents and strengths unique to your lived experience and navigate that change more effectively. "We must not allow other people's limited perceptions to define us." - Virginia Satir

I use a variety of holistic and therapeutic tools and processes to release the physical (tension, pain, numbness, fatigue) and emotional (anxiety, sadness, anger, fear) pain that may be deeply affecting your ability to feel peace, success, and joy in your life.
Pull up a seat, let's chat for a minute. I'm glad you are here! This is a great start to finding the healing and growth you are looking for in your life and relationships. You may be wondering if therapy is right for you if you really need to go talk to a str anger about your innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The truth is most everyone can benefit from having, at the very least, a sounding board, and at the most, a non-judgmental clinician who can assist you in moving through the stuckness you may be experiencing in your life.

I come with a lot of compassion over the difficult process of attending therapy. Life is a wild ride with so many different variables. Most of us need an external person outside of our system to help us along the way and for different transitions in life. If you find yourself overwhelmed by life, a situation, marital conflict/separation, a person, a job, or maybe anxiety/depression then therapy might be a great option for you.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
