I specialize in EMDR and ART therapies.
Are you looking for quick results and relief? Is that even possible? Yes, it is! EMDR or ART might be the right type of therapy if you are looking for effective short-term treatment. Long-term therapy can last several weeks, months, sometimes even years, often without the relief clients hope to find. Now imagine not spending an excessive amount of time and money (compared to traditional therapy) to reach your goal! Let me help you better manage your PTSD, trauma(s), anxieties, and self-confidence concerns with EMDR or ART. Want even quicker results? Consider EMDR intensive sessions, which is the speediest therapy with rapid result.

I have training and experience using EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Ego State, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Trauma-Informed CBT therapy modalities.
I've always believed that my own life's journey and experiences have uniquely prepared me in my desire to help others. I am passionate about working with survivors of trauma. I believe each of us has within us, the ability to heal and grow from any difficulty life hands us. Sometimes we just need the guidance of a caring and competent therapist to carry us through. We all desire to feel safe, seen, and supported when we are our most vulnerable selves. My hope is to provide this kind of therapeutic alliance with my clients. One where the client knows best and I am but a trusted ally on their journey toward better health.

Some of the tools I like to use are EMDR, inner child/parts work, expressive arts, mindfulness, experiential therapy, and person-centered therapy.
Do you feel like you don't fit in? Are you chronically overwhelmed, anxious, or numb? Do you feel disconnected from yourself and your needs? Have a history of addiction or compulsive people-pleasing? Many of my clients are neurodivergent and/or highly sensitive, shouldering the burden of chronic shame, masking, burnout, anxiety, obsessive thinking, or underlying trauma. I enjoy helping people cultivate loving, trusting relationships with themselves and others, through co-creating an environment of safety and nurturance where intuition is celebrated, and we work with the mind-body system, rather than against it.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, but I most often draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing ( EMDR), Person-Centered, Play Therapy, and Family Systems.
Sometimes we get stuck. We’ve done everything we know to do to help ourselves, then comes a time when we need some extra support figuring out the rest. Counseling can be a place to gain clarity about what you're going through and learn how to be your most true and thriving self again. I often support children, individuals and families work through things like negative thought patterns, effects of past trauma, overwhelming emotions, anxiety, irritability or anger, low motivation, family problems, and feeling lost or helpless in their problems. I also provide affirming and celebratory care to LGBTQIA+ individuals of all ages.

I use an attachment-focused approach, incorporating EMDR, EFT, and IFS modalities.
Many clients come to me feeling stuck in unsatisfying relationships. They crave deeper connections with their partners or parents, but despite expressing their needs, nothing seems to change. They often find themselves caught in cycles of frustration, vowing not to get angry or to "just let things go," only to feel overwhelmed again. Emotions like anxiety, anger, or sadness can feel unmanageable, and triggered by small or unexpected events. This often leads to ongoing conflicts, leaving them confused and insecure. Even if things seem normal by morning, the cycle of misunderstanding and tension continues.

When working through attachment wounds, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, or dealing with relationship or inner conflict or maybe navigating changes in adolescence or parenthood, I use an attachment, trauma-focused, emotion-focused, and psychodynamic lens as well as utilize EMDR, parts work, and knowledge in perinatal mental health to support clients.
Life often comes with challenges that can be hard to navigate alone. In therapy, I provide a safe space where clients can be their true selves and explore deeper into the challenges they are currently facing. Often, our childhood, relationship experiences, and current place in life influence what we think about ourselves and how we navigate the world. When people find themselves yearning for understanding and connection, therapy is a place where exploration, warmth, and validation can make all the difference. I speak English/Spanish and support children/teens, individuals, couples, and families in finding what it is they need most.

I use an approach that encourages self-compassion and self-love as well as EMDR to reprocess trauma.
Are you or your adolescent dealing with social anxiety or a general feeling of tension and nervousness and/or are you dealing with feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and general lethargy? Are you dealing with the issues that come with addiction (yours or someone else's)? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we should talk! These are all common issues that people struggle with and people often try to deal with them alone. This can lead to a life that is pretty unsatisfying, if not downright miserable. The good news is, you don't have to just "get through" the days. You can have a life that is satisfying.

I also have received extensive training in EMDR as well as other treatments for trauma.
Welcome! My name is Casey and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I work to provide a calm and peaceful environment where healing can happen. In treatment I focus heavily on increasing awareness through the use of mindfulness. For example, consider how much time we spend thinking about the past or future compared to the present. Too much time in the future breeds anxiety while too much time in the past breeds depression. The present is where we find peace even for just a moment.

I practice EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy and am also trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
As a psychotherapist, I know that all humans have ups and downs and that life is not always easy. If you find yourself feeling anxious and stressed out often, not able to enjoy life’s little moments, needing support with a big change or you have a general feeling of being stuck, therapy with me could be right for you. I recognize how important talk-therapy can be as I have experienced these all too common situations myself. I believe when seeking out a therapist, being able to relate is a key factor in success. My dog, Duke, loves to join therapy sessions and is guaranteed to make you laugh.

I am formally trained in specific therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR).
Being vulnerable is hard. However, with vulnerability comes healing. The most important part of healing our emotional wounds is having the courage to open up again. It is our willingness to show up as we are and to trust in and accept the help being offered that will ultimately lead us to the path of healing. As your clinician, I will meet you exactly where you are on this path. You can expect to be met with a compassionate, empathetic, and committed response to your care needs.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
