Asking for help can be one of the most difficult things to do when you are struggling. As a therapist, I recognize the strength it takes to be vulnerable and explore the parts of yourself that you may perceive as the scariest. My hope is that my clients are willing to allow me to sit with them as they explore their thoughts, emotions and behaviors and work towards creating a healthier, happier life.

People are human beings - not labels - who are capable of reaching the infinite potential within themselves. People are also deeper than their diagnoses and that I think that we all possess within us the power to change. I enjoy helping guide people to their own conclusions and helping them discover who they truly are, apart from their outward behaviors.

I work with individuals, families, teens, and couples on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, life transitions, 2SLGBTQ+ issues, substance abuse, communication and interpersonal relationships, as well as the complicated issues associated with Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorders.
Compassion, respect and inclusion are the core values of my practice. Change hits us all differently, so therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My goal is to help you explore your authentic self, to develop the talents and strengths unique to your lived experience and navigate that change more effectively. "We must not allow other people's limited perceptions to define us." - Virginia Satir

I have extensive experience working with a wide variety of issues with children, adolescents, and adults, which include anxiety/panic, depression, anger, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, sleep disorders, self-harm, grief, chronic pain, trauma, and PTSD. The foundation of my work recognizes that the mind, body and spirit are equally important in healing the person. Because there is a constant interaction between these 3 entities, each has a significant influence on the other. When all 3 entities are addressed, optimal and sustaining changes can be achieved. I enjoy working with all issues when using this approach to help you achieve your goals.

Most people come to therapy when they're stuck, and the ways we cope with that stuck place, including avoidance, procrastination, acting out, anger, sex, spending, and/or drugs and alcohol, only cause even more problems.
I do short-term psychotherapy and can see most clients within 48 hours of their first call to me. I have 17 years of experience, have worked at all levels of care, and I specialize in helping people dealing with stage of life dilemmas and transitions, addictive or compulsive disorders, and anxiety and depression. I have a straight-forward approach and think of people in terms of their relationships, present and past.

I specialize in working with older teens and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, anger, and grief.
Life’s challenges can often wear us down, particularly when they affect our relationships, draining the affection and love we have for those we care about most. With over 30 years of experience, I am committed to helping others overcome the obstacles that prevent them from enjoying the life and relationships they desire. My counseling style is personal, warm, and supportive. I understand that discussing deep issues with a str anger can be intimidating, which is why I strive to create a friendly, non-judgmental space where individuals can talk openly about their lives and work on their issues.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
