I support clients with perinatal mental health struggles, parenting issues, self-esteem growth, those struggling with anxiety and depression, and a wide range of challenges individuals may face in effort to improve coping and overall quality of life.
As a natural-born people person, I gravitate toward helping those around me and enjoy meeting clients where they are, while developing trust in a therapeutic setting. The family you came from can impact the family you are creating, and using therapeutic approaches that pull from family systems, trauma, and cognitive behavioral methods are my main focus. I was drawn to this profession because of my passion for working with people who were surviving trauma and grief.

I have a strong passion for helping those going through a shift in religious/spiritual beliefs, pregnant and postpartum women, and trauma survivors.
Have you recently experienced a shift in your religious/spiritual beliefs? Are you struggling to understand what your purpose is, what your values are, and where to go from here? I am a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka the LDS/Mormon church). I have first-hand knowledge and experience with how difficult of a journey it can be to have your religious/spiritual beliefs change. Figuring out who you are-and what you now believe in-can be a painful, difficult journey, but you do not have to do it by yourself. I will be there to help guide you every step of the way.

Do you struggle with “feeling like yourself” again since having kids? Do you and your partner or spouse have trouble seeing eye-to-eye? Has intimacy changed since becoming parents? Have you experienced a recent traumatic birth experience? Many women (and men) choose not to seek the help that they need because these issues are not talked about enough in our society. Issues in the perinatal period can also look like rage or increased irritability, low motivation, feeling "stuck", not feeling connected to your partner/spouse, kids, or even yourself.

I work with individuals—children and adults—who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship or parenting difficulties, ADHD, prenatal/postpartum mood concerns, and career/workplace issues.
I’m accepting new clients now with immediate availability. It's late, and you're up scrolling through hundreds of therapist profiles, trying to find a good match. Finding the right therapist can be an exhausting task. It's tough out there, especially when you're going through a difficult time and all you need is someone to listen without judgment and support you through it. And to make matters worse, it's often challenging just to get some professionals to return your phone call!

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
