In recent years there has been an increase in mental health referrals for young children (3-6 years of age). They are having difficulty in developing emotional and social skills which they need to succeed at home, day care and pre-kinder school. Parents' main complaints are that their child is having frequent "emotional meltdowns", "temper tantrums", "verbal and physical aggression", "defiance", "shutting down", "clinging", "school refusal", and "stop talking". The child has reached an extreme level of emotional distress for him/herself and for others around them. I also provide therapy for adults.

I believe every person is an expert in their own life, and with an equal partnership as a therapist we will work as a team to allow you to become the best you want to be. I have a non-judgmental and supportive approach where I want you to feel comfortable, safe, and at ease during your therapy sessions. I have experience providing therapeutic services clients aged 5-65 and populations including victims of violent crimes, behavioral concerns, criminal offenders, LGBTQIA+, and those of various cultural backgrounds.

My primary focus and specializations are mental health, substance use disorders and trauma. I am a Certified EMDR therapist, but I also use a variety of therapeutic applications individualized for the client and their needs.

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2013 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in San Diego, California. I then completed my post-doctoral training at the Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry and Neuropsychology Services in San Francisco, California.

I worked the Mandalay mass shooting. I provided crisis response immediately after the crisis. I have previous experience providing support for mass shooting survivors.

The human experience is complex, yet empowering. Oftentimes, our lack of knowledge due to inexperience and lack of positive mentors, can create debilitating and limiting mindsets that make it difficult for us to feel connected to who we truly are. On top of that, difficult life events can overwhelm our coping mechanisms and pull us even further away from ourselves.
