I bring life experience to my practice and the counseling relationship that includes marriage, divorce, remarriage, multicultural family issues, parenting, grandparenting, aging, grief and bereavement.
It is my experience that "Life Happens" and sometimes we just don't have the tools to help us through the difficult times. Regardless of whether problems are small or large or even huge, they can add additional stress and anxiety to our already busy lives. When issues affect our relationships, our work and/or our health, it is time to seek help and support.

The majority of my practice focuses on healing parent/adult child relational dynamics, disconnection in romantic partnerships, and challenges with emotional safety and connection.
Many clients come to me feeling stuck in unsatisfying relationships. They crave deeper connections with their partners or parents, but despite expressing their needs, nothing seems to change. They often find themselves caught in cycles of frustration, vowing not to get angry or to "just let things go," only to feel overwhelmed again. Emotions like anxiety, anger, or sadness can feel unmanageable, and triggered by small or unexpected events. This often leads to ongoing conflicts, leaving them confused and insecure. Even if things seem normal by morning, the cycle of misunderstanding and tension continues.

The younger the child the more important it is that the parent(s) and family be an active partner in the therapy.
Our mission is to advocate for couples, children and families with mental and behavioral health needs, To ensure that each client is provided with the means necessary to gain independence, self esteem, better coping and problem solving skills to reach their fullest potential in social and emotional growth. Life events such as parental job loss, family stress, health issues, divorce, domestic violence, frequent anger and hostility between parents, step- parenting, single parenting without support, to name only a few, can derail healthy development and create a cascade of escalating behavior problems at home and in the community.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
