My ideal client would be someone who would like to understand what life experiences helped to shape who they are and what they can learn from those experiences. They would like to know how to identify and build on their inner strengths and have someone understand them from a culturally sensitive perspective. Their goals would be to bring back a sense of harmony, balance and mental/emotional well-being and to learn skills to maintain a state of optimal functioning. They would want to raise their consciousness and understand themselves from a mind, body, spirit perspective, so they can be the highest expression of themselves.
My specialty is Afrocentric counseling and I offer counseling from a culturally sensitive perspective. I include a historical context when working with African-American clients, I focus on the strengths of African-Americans and I utilize culturally specific counseling techniques. In addition, my mind, body, spirit approach allows me to treat the whole person
I understand that it is often difficult to reach out for help, but sometimes it is necessary so that we can reach our fullest potential. We have all struggled with painful events that have kept us from being the person that we know that we can be.
