I blend Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, embodiment and other holistic practices to help clients reconnect with their wholeness and freedom.
Our bodies store everything we have ever experienced, making them essential in therapeutic and healing processes. When our bodies are full of painful experiences of the past, it can feel impossible to be engaged, invested, or fully alive in the present. I work well with clients that are seeking a somatic, integrative, and trauma-informed approach. My work with clients is creative, collaborative and designed to help individuals find pathways to embodiment and an expanded capacity to embrace all emotion or circumstance with greater ease, intimacy and balance.

I do this by utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches including Somatic Experiencing (SE), CBT, Mindfulness, Strengths-Based, and the Gottman Method, all while looking through a trauma-informed lens.
My experience ranges from providing services to individuals, couples, and families coming from different walks of life and backgrounds that come into session with an array of concerns, including anxiety, depression, life changes, family/relationship concerns and trauma. Understanding that everyone has different needs and concerns, my goal is to provide a culturally informed focus that empowers my clients. As a second-generation Muslim-American, I fully understands the importance of providing a safe and comfortable space for members of my community seeking wellness and mental health resources.

In my practice, I utilize a number of trauma informed approaches such as EMDR (Online or In-Person), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and more to help you resolve these early childhood traumas so that you can experience the peace, joy, and freedom in your life that you are desiring and worthy of having.
For the last 10 years I have specialized in working with boys, teenagers, men, women, and families. If this is you, it is my goal to help you overcome the barriers and problems in your life that are keeping you from experiencing the freedom you are desiring. Most often, these problems are the result of unresolved trauma and wounding from childhood. Perhaps you're experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, PTSD, sexual abuse, addiction (sexual, drug/alcohol, work), lack of self confidence, family issues, relationship difficulties, negative coping habits, physical or auto-immune disorders, or more. If so, I can help.

They're tired of the food noise and body shame. They want to feel more alive and happy in life without relying on their pants size to dictate their worth. They are ready to address the deeper issues holding them back.

We may work well together if you are looking for therapy that is direct, possibly even fun at times and is a mixture of cognitive work and somatic practices.
Are you not feeling like yourself? Missing who you were or longing for who you want to be? Are your thoughts telling you that you are broken or unworthy? Sometimes difficult experiences or the general stress of life manifests as physical pain in our bodies or as emotions that feel overwhelming and unpredictable. Therapy is a place to learn how to listen to the wisdom of our bodies to better understand how to take care of our mental and physical well-being. The fact that you are looking at this page means you have taken the first step towards getting to know yourself better, and I know how hard that first step can be.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
