My mission is to help individuals improve their quality of life and discover who they are and what they’d like to accomplish in life by being a present, attentive, compassionate, and non-judgmental therapist. I have vast experience in treating individuals suffering from substance abuse and chemical dependency, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, domestic violence, trauma and PTSD, psychosis, and other debilitating mental health challenges.

Dr. Jan has bee practicing since 1986 and has worked with adults who are survivors of domestic violence, survivors of childhood abuse including sexual abuse, military, veterans, first responders and those suffering trauma, depression, anxiety and grief or loss.

Growing up in Mexico, I was taught to believe that therapy was only for "crazy people". I have come to understand the stigma this brings to those who need support. My practice is designed to help clients work through issues, current or historical, which are keeping them from a full and contented life . I have over 20 years counseling experience. My specialties are eating disorders of all types,trauma and OCD treatment. Because, eating disorders co-occur with many other psychological diagnoses including PTSD, OCD, and various anxiety and mood and personality disorders, I have learned to employ a variety of techniques to achieve results, and not stick to a "one-size-fits-all" treatment approach.

I am a Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist with over 400 hours of clinical training. I am Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy, which is the certifying board with the highest level of initial certification, and on-going education requirements in the industry. I am a Hypnotherapist involved with the National Institutes of Health Hypnotherapy Study on Reducing Urinary Frequency using Medical Support Hypnotherapy. Additionally, I serve as an Associate Instructor and a Practical Skills Coach at the prestigious Hypnotherapy Academy of America in Albuquerque. I am qualified to work on medical support issues, fears, anxieties, goal achievement & smoking cessation.
