Do you feel tense and anxious most of the time? Do you feel consumed with worries? So much so, that it is hard to relax and enjoy the moment? Chronic worry can rob us from enjoying the present. Perhaps this has happened to you, you have looked forward to a fun event and once you are there, it is hard to enjoy or focus on the fun because fearful thoughts intrude. Family or friends may have told you such things as “Just quit worrying.” “Relax, let it go.” “You need to move on.” "Just breathe." If it were only that simple.....

I also use a strengths based approach while focusing on systems and psychodynamic elements; I incorporate CBT and Family Systems frameworks as well.
Hello, my name is Paige Dildy. I am a graduate from NMHU and have earned a master's degree in social work. Because of struggles beginning in my childhood, I have a passion for offering mental health services and resources, I feel privileged to be a professional that individuals and families can come to for support. I offer a solution focused and strengths based approach. I employ CBT and experiential modalities as well as use a family systems focus. It is my belief that therapy is often a first step in investing in oneself and can be a space that holds room for vulnerability without judgment. I hope to work with you!

Are you and your spouse/partner struggling with trust, communication, or intimacy? Is your daughter or son having difficulties? Are you noticing changes in behavior/attitude? Are you concerned about substance use? Is there anything else that is upsetting to you or your loved ones? Are there problematic issues in your workplace or business? Are there new opportunities or possibilities you want to explore in your life and relationships?

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
