"Two people getting to know each other and dealing with what comes up along the way" is one way I think about therapy. Some people seek psychotherapy because of an issue that is clearly about a relationship or relationships in general-for example, a breakup, trouble initiating relationships, or problems with coworkers or bosses. Even if your main concern seems to be just about you-for example, you are depressed or have low self-esteem-your relationships with others, including me, become an important part of therapy. Do you believe others have the same opinion of you that you do?

By providing a safe, supportive environment in which clients can explore difficult issues, they begin to find their voice to express themselves, while gaining personal insight, and starting on a path of healing. I am a Licensed Marital Family Therapist and a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marital Family Therapists. In my private practice, in the lovely village of Corrales just outside of both Rio Rancho and Albuquerque. I work with adult individuals helping all my clients begin to build stronger 'internal bridges', which support them in reconnecting with their heart, mind, and spirit.

There are times in our lives when we may feel uncertain, overwhelmed, anxious, or down. Personal and environmental stressors can significantly influence how we navigate our daily existence, sometimes with efficacy and at other times, with challenges. Though seeking help can be difficult, I am dedicated to offering a secure environment where we can explore individual impactful events, as well as patterns of behavior and communication that may contribute to a sense of being stuck. My ultimate objective is to empower individuals to forge a healthy self-identity, recognizing and celebrating their unique and authentic selves.

NOTE: I am presently on medical leave and unavailable. My therapeutic approach is strengths-based, and centered on the belief that with help, you can learn to think, feel and behave better. My therapeutic role is to promote enhanced self-awareness, encourage coping skills, and foster personal responsibility. These skills will enable you to respond better to adversity and maintain a healthier perspective on your difficulties. You will also realize that you CAN learn to stabilize and reassure yourself when problems arise (as they always do), and thereby work through them more effectively.

What does it mean to love and be loved? How do we choose safe partners? How do we relationship in healthy ways? As a therapist, I hold that my role is to journey with you along your unique healing path. I believe that when we love with our whole selves it ripples out into our communities in restorative ways and have focused my work with those of us who have or are currently experiencing domestic and interpersonal violence. I understand that relational violence is an expression of societal violence and cannot be separated from each other in a healing journey. I guide lovers to safe relationships.

We are all carrying frustrating patterns we can’t seem to break out of, and conflicts that feel impossible to resolve. With daily life constantly adding stressors, it is natural to feel overwhelmed. As we work together in session, I can help you see your life in a different light, and find solutions that bring joy to your days. I believe resilience is a trait that can be taught so you can continue to thrive even after we finish our time together. I work to create a therapeutic setting that fosters security, dignity, and identity-affirming empathy.

When you recognize that your current patterns no longer serve you, telling your story in a safe space can start you on the path back to your true self. Underneath the issues that trouble you; grief, trauma, depression, stress, feeling stuck...there are opportunities for growth and positive change. It's time to reconnect with that still, soft voice inside of you that speaks to the truth of who you are; your best self. My therapeutic approach is adapted to your needs; integrating Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Art Therapy. I am also trained in EMDR.

I work with couples and individuals who are struggling with their own life issues. The focus can be on relationships, work, economics, sexuality, children, family, etc. There is often some depression, or anxiety. Changes are addressed easily, naturally with techniques that are easy to use and maintain. My compassionate, caring approach helps you to address your concerns more easily. I also work with survivors of abuse - sexual abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse. Other grief work includes the death of a child, a loved one, a parent. My years of experience are my best assets for you and your life situations.
