I hold a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Doctorate in Social Work from Rutgers University.

Richard has over eight years of experience working with a wide range of adults and families in the mental health field settings at the Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, Residential, Intensive In-Community Settings. Richard has experience with various issues, including Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Grief, Stress, Substance Abuse, Peer Relationships, Anger Management, Men’s Issues, and Domestic Violence.

My practice philosophy is to understand my patient's situation and then to use many models of possible treatment either alone or together. Relationships can be difficult, life holds its challenges. I am trained in Behavioral Psychology but use it primarily as a tool to manage anxiety and depression. My overall practice is analytic and psychodynamic in nature. I am trained in hypnotherapy and also offer therapy, using a 12 session program, designed to help people with shyness. Another workshop type set of sessions is offered for an assessment of and treatment for, difficulties with motivation in college.

It is hard to say what my ideal client is because I believe that I am capable of working with various types of people and that each person is unique. Even with a "challenging" client, I have learned a lot and found value in the work. With that being said, my ideal client has a history of trauma that has impacted their ability to connect with others and themselves. They are struggling with body image, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety about how others are perceiving them. They want to be empowered to advocate for themselves when necessary and create a wellness routine that serves as a preventative measure for mental health problems.

My ideal client is a young adult facing overwhelming life challenges. They might feel lost amid trauma, loss, or big changes, even though they seem okay to others. They struggle with emotions like sadness and stress and need a safe place to talk, heal, and learn healthy ways to cope. They want to find peace and purpose, and they seek support to understand themselves better, grow, and face life with confidence. They're ready to explore, heal, and become the best version of themselves, knowing they don't have to do it alone.
