Telehealth and In-Person sessions available! Do you feel haunted by past abuse or other trauma? Does nothing relieve your panic attacks or anxiety? Come explore the latest innovations in emotional healing. Most psychotherapy methods rely upon talking, but talking alone is not always enough. The most effective procedures bypass the talking process and meet emotional needs at a deeper level. By addressing core emotional needs with non-touch, body-oriented procedures in conjunction with counseling, my approach offers direct access to the healthy person inside. I enjoy discovering the real person behind the emotional problems.

In my practice, I work with clients who struggle with the psychological, emotional, and physical consequences of past and/or ongoing trauma, as they try to avoid repeating personal and professional mistakes that serve only to worsen their traumatic experiences. If you are experiencing challenges such as these, I help you process your trauma in a supportive, validating environment, that is empowering and ultimately freeing.

Therapeutic Approaches:Psychodynamic, Existential, Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal, Solution-Focused, Person Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, Play Therapy, Pyscho-Education, Systems Theory. I believe in evidence-based, integrative methods designed for the individual, not a one size fits all approach. In my experience, people seek counseling when life is not working for them. They are distressed and often sad that a job, a marriage or schoolwork is overwhelming. Relationships may be troubled or reaching a breaking point. Trauma"“recent or long past"“take a toll on everyday living.

Are you suffering from a loss -- or losses -- in your life? Have you lost a loved one? A relationship? Are you anticipating a loss? Loss and grief can be so painful, both emotionally and physically. What was, no longer is. The people and things you believed you could count on may no longer be available. Loss and grief can feel disorienting, like the ground under you has crumbled or shifted and you no longer know what’s up or down. You might feel stuck. You might feel like nothing will be good again. Loss and grief can bring up all kinds of feelings and reactions. They’re all valid.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
