I often enjoy working with psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals who are impacted by the secondary trauma of their professional work or other caregiving responsibilities.
You are feeling “stuck” in life because of anxiety, grief or trauma. You want therapy to be a safe, supportive and deeply healing experience. I can help you “do the work” to really shift your perspective, heal from the past, develop healthy relationships, and feel positive momentum toward your goals. If you are open, insightful, and committed to developing better self-awareness; I will provide the safe, supportive structure you need to heal your emotional pain and move forward in your life. Using Psychodrama (a mind-body therapy) and mindfulness I will help you identify and access your own strengths and resiliency.

I create a non-judgmental and collaborative environment where clients feel safe and empowered to authentically explore and improve their lives. I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and the LGBTQIA+ community facing a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, social and relationship issues, grief and loss, and trauma.

Hey! I’m Christina (she/her/hers), and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). First and foremost, before we start talking about me, I just wanted to say that I’m proud of you for even looking up counselors because although it’s the first step in the counseling process, it can be the most difficult. Throughout my counseling experience I have worked with kids as young as 5 years old all the way to senior adults, coming from all walks of life, who have struggled with addictions, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, traumatic stress, and plain old daily life stressors.

Hi! I'm James. Over the last decade I’ve seen good results helping people who feel that their life just recently “fell off track” even if they did not expect therapy to be the answer. I’ve tried to nurture this niche of helping those emotionally effected by high pressure stress. I have helped individuals address low mood, depression, anxiety, and low life-satisfaction. I have also worked with children and families to expand communication skills and patterns, improve relationships, increase feelings of security, and optimize being accurately understood.

We must first accept where, what, and who we are in the present moment before seeking to change ourselves or our situation. In therapy, you'll learn how to access your inner wisdom and regain a sense of control over your thoughts and emotions. Our society is filled with contradicting messages that infiltrate our thoughts and alter our beliefs, goals, and behaviors. On a daily basis, we’re expected to stay connected, but limit screen time; be conscious of what you put in your body, but don’t restrict; be a leader, but don’t be bossy; do your best, but don’t be a perfectionist; be expressive, but not dramatic.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
