As a neurodivergent queer feminist art therapist, I'll help your child figure out who they are and more effectively deal with what's weighing them down emotionally.
I help neurodivergent/2e/ADHD & LGBTQ+ kids (ages 10-20) who’ve had it with school, feel excluded, and have meltdowns or shut down when you try to talk to them. Your child can learn to handle big emotions & address mental health concerns with neuro & queer affirming art therapy, so they can focus on "regular stuff" - finishing that project, sleepovers, extracurriculars. As a parent, you’ll have fewer crises, more time to enjoy your family & time for yourself, while your child’s improved confidence & flexible thinking will mean less frustration & chaos, and more time for learning, friends & activities that are meaningful to them.

I believe that a clear, focused, relaxed and lucid mind is the best instrument for self-discovery and healing. Using a combination of meditation, mindfulness and cognitive methods, I help individuals to attain deep inner awareness of one's mind and body and deep outer awareness of the external world. I believe that the resolution of many of life's problems becomes apparent when we open our minds to our own unrecognized thoughts, feelings, and sensations. I believe that contentment can arise only as a result of a basic honesty and acceptance of oneself.

My ideal client would most likely be a female teenager working through peer relationships, self-esteem, and social anxiety. With this client, I believe some of her needs would be to explore core beliefs of who she is in comparison to what others may say/think of her, cognitively challenging and reframing intrusive/negative thought patterns, and slowly expose the client to social scenarios in which she can use her coping skills to effectively navigate new situations.

Asking for help is a big step that shows bravery courage and the dedication you have to yourself and the want to feel better. My goal is to make sure I can provide you with the tools and support that empowers you to reach your personal goals, and find peace, happiness, and healing. Coming from a social work background, I acknowledge that there are outside obstacles that we may not be able to control inside of the therapy room, but I can assure you that I will be your biggest advocate and provide support and action when applicable, and empower and lift your voice so that you can become your number 1 advocate as well.

My ideal client is someone who understands the areas of their life that need improvement. They have an idea of potential treatment goals for therapy and is open to the process. Additionally, they believe there are many ways to address previous traumas and can identify preferences for treatment. For example, a client who is open to incorporating journaling, meditation, or other holistic practices in addition to traditional talk therapy. My ideal client intentionally commits to the therapeutic process and is open to collaboration in the therapeutic space.

Starting therapy, whether it’s for the first time or with someone new, can be difficult; sometimes the process of finding a therapist can be almost as daunting as the therapy itself! However, the right therapist IS out there and this journey will ultimately lead you to the person to give you the help you need! Most importantly, this therapist should have professional experience with your specific needs. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as substance use, personality disorders, and anxiety/depression.

My ideal client is a young adult facing overwhelming life challenges. They might feel lost amid trauma, loss, or big changes, even though they seem okay to others. They struggle with emotions like sadness and stress and need a safe place to talk, heal, and learn healthy ways to cope. They want to find peace and purpose, and they seek support to understand themselves better, grow, and face life with confidence. They're ready to explore, heal, and become the best version of themselves, knowing they don't have to do it alone.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families. I work from a strength based perspective and focus on identifying goals and then taking small achievable steps to work towards progress and a sense of accomplishment. I use play techniques with children to elicit their perspectives and develop a plan for building new understandings. I strive to support the development of problem solving skills and strategies for coping. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation and other current strategies such as mindfulness with both children, families and individuals to bring about positive changes.

It's time to totally shake it up. Forget what you think you know about therapy or what you need to do to change your life... Making that level of change means confronting Truth and fundamentally changing yourself. I won't sugarcoat it and I certainly won't lie to you: I will tell you what you need to know and guide you toward making the proper choices in your life. And I'll prove it to you right now: I tell you outright that I can't fix you. No one can. The only person that has that sort of power over you IS you. This involves hard choices in learning how to manage your life. And I will stand beside you every step of the way.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
