I utilize a variety of different modalities some including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and/or a trauma-informed approach to meet my client's specific needs.
It requires insight to identify the need for help, support, and guidance when life becomes challenging. Take a moment to validate this big step. I value fostering vulnerability in the safe space of a therapeutic alliance in order to facilitate change. My goal is to guide you to the solutions you have always had within you, but just have needed some help accessing.

Depending on the client and their needs I use techniques and principles from several different modalities, including: CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy; and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
My work usually begins when someone has reached their breaking point. What’s worked in the past is no longer effective and there is a feeling of being stuck and/or hopelessness. Whether you are dealing with self harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, trauma, or difficulties regulating emotions, thoughts and behaviors I can support you. Through my practice I help clients develop self-awareness and behavioral strategies that can be practiced and infused into daily life. Let's work together on taking your next step.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) and Trauma-Focused Therapy (TF-CBT) are some modalities to address the concerns.
Are you feeling "stuck," indecisive, depressed, or anxious? We all face life difficulties that limit our skills and tools for managing our emotions, reducing symptoms, building relationships, and having a sense of self-worth. Understanding, learning what is happening in your brain, and practicing skills and coping mechanisms are vital to living a worthwhile life. I have spent the last few years assisting clients, building their toolbox, understanding the emotional system, and improving their lives.

The healthiest people are the ones who walk through the door. This communicates to me; the courage it takes to attend a therapy session, already serves to heal. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my ultimate goal is to empower you to face life's challenges. I have worked extensively with individuals and families and I heavily subscribe to Cognitive Behavior Therapy framework, but pull from several different approaches to meet my clients where they are and support them on their journey.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
