I'm especially helpful to those struggling with grief, life transitions, relationships and parenting.
Life is messy. We all struggle. No one is exempt. Throughout each of our unique journeys and paths, the challenges, detours, and great barriers we face are an inevitable part of that experience. And at some point we all need to stop and take time—time to care for ourselves, time to reevaluate what’s important and where we’re heading. For you, maybe that time is now. Maybe you're experiencing depression, anxiety, confusion, or loss—but you don't have to do it alone. I can help support your journey back to personal power as a companion, witness, and non-judgmental guide.

It not easy to ask for help but you don't have to face your struggles alone. The constant worry, the racing thoughts, the tightness in your chest. The sadness, the emptiness, the loss of interest. The struggle to get out of bed, to face the day, to cope with the challenges. You feel alone, hopeless, & stuck. You wonder if things will ever get better. You are not alone. It takes great courage to acknowledge that you're struggling with anxiety or depression. I want you to know that I am here to support you as you work through these issues and make positive life changes. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change.

What if i told you, you didn't have to re-live your trauma, to heal from it? Remembering is not recovering. The only thing worse than living through a traumatic event, are the after affects that impact the present day. These affects may include mood instability, flashbacks, depression, irritability, anxiety, hyper-vigilance, isolation, destructive behaviors, and more. Past trauma has the ability to change our worldview in the present, contributing to an ongoing sense of danger, fear, hopelessness, and shame. That's why, as a therapist, I use an array of here-and-now techniques to assist clients in re-establishing a sense of safety.

Some clients are encouraged or persuaded to engage in psychological services and others are fully self referred. I have come to learn that regardless of the avenue for initiating services and the reason for referral, most clients can have a positive therapeutic experience and achieve some measure of success, change or resolution to general or specific areas of concern or mutually defined treatment goals. My experiences have provided me with an appreciaition for clients' needs at various stages of life and given me the opportunity to learn to work effectively with clients with a wide range of functioning, types of problems and phases of life.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
