My assessments can be used for diagnostic clarity, school placement, accommodations for standardized testing, or to guide treatment.
I am a licensed psychologist, specializing in the treatment and diagnostic evaluation of individuals aged 2 and older. As a mother to a child with a developmental delay, I can truly appreciate first-hand the many joys and challenges that each family may experience when raising a child with special needs. Through positive framing and honest discussion, I strive to work closely with each person and/or their families to strengthen areas of concern. As needed, I've also consulted with schools to develop comprehension plans to better ensure a child's academic and socio-emotional success.

Hi, I’m Julie. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist, a veteran, and a mom of 2 neurodivergent boys. Raising my kids is like looking in a mirror﹣ it led me to pursue a formal evaluation for myself, and when I was diagnosed with ADHD, it helped me make sense of things in my own life. My advocacy for the neurodivergent community initially began with my children’s diagnoses but has continued as I've found myself inspired by my amazing resilient clients.

In addition to therapy, I offer testing for accommodations (including extra time) on standardized exams, such as LSAT, GMAT and MCAT.
Given many stressors of modern life and demand to always be on top of our game, many of us are overwhelmed, suffering from unwanted emotions and feeling trapped in our circumstances. I offer supportive environment and goal-directed, biologically valid and clinically proven therapeutic approaches to help my clients re-establish healthy and functional relationship with their emotions, problem-solve through their circumstances and become "un-stuck" in their lives. In my practice, I combine elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, existential and biological/evolutionary perspectives.

As the lead psychologist on a team that provides timely psychoeducational evaluations and personalized advocacy, I ensure that families receive the diagnosis, advocacy, and support needed to persuade the gatekeepers who stand in the way of vital learning accommodations.
Do you have a child who needs extra time on in-class exams, the SAT, ACT, or other necessary learning accommodations? Each year, countless students fall through the cracks and find that their school is unable or unwilling to provide the necessary psychoeducational evaluations and support. The implications are profound, as these students, through no fault of their own, are denied vital accommodations like extra time in the classroom and on standardized tests.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists

What is a psychological evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?

Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?

Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?

Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
