Therapy is weird. I get it. You are sharing your secrets with a stranger. The relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important aspect of therapy. I have worked with single mothers, couples, families, children/teenagers, and the LGBT community. Working since 2007, there is not much I have not seen. I treat my clients like I would want my family members to be treated, with respect, compassion, sincerity and honesty. I also believe therapy can be fun as well as constructive and valuable.

I have particular interest and expertise in infertility and family building through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
With almost 20 years of experience, I combine clinical experience, intuitive knowledge, and genuine compassion to help clients achieve their goals. My practice consists of clients working on a broad range of issues – some with long standing emotional challenges; others facing situational stressors. Situational stressors are life occurrences or circumstances that may be temporary but create upset in one’s personal or professional life.

A diagnosis of infertility is often a heartbreaking and unpredictable life crisis.
Working together we can help you to develop a deeper understanding about what has occurred, create greater compassion and self-awareness, learn to take responsibility for what is yours and develop positive and lasting changes in your life. I will work with you to create an environment that is welcoming, non-judgmental, and safe. We will explore not only what is happening today, but also your early life as it plays a role in who you are now and how you deal with any given situation.

I've always believed that the person who enters therapy is a brave soul. Coming to therapy means taking a leap of faith that the therapist will hear you and respond with empathy and connect in a way that makes the experience comforting in an environment of acceptance with purpose and growth. The impetus that compels someone to come to therapy may be depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or a general lack of fulfillment in life. You may want to be compassionate to your thriving inner critic. All are a genesis to a new beginning that we will work on together.

I have been working with families for over 30 years. During this time I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and couples. Many people begin therapy to work towards moving aside obstacles or issues that prevent movement forward, whatever that looks like to them...it is all individual. Although my expertise has always been in working with adolescents dealing with social, emotional, family or school issues, I feel equally capable when working with a family, a couple or an individual towards their goal.

How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.
How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.
What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.
How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
