I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20-plus years experience in the human services field and I have served individuals and families in a variety of capacities. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, including teenagers, college students, and adults. My primary areas of focus have been treating depression, anxiety, relationship/peer issues, grief issues, and family issues. I believe that mental health is a key component of our overall wellness and that the time is now to address the stressors and thoughts that prevent us from meeting our full human potential.

As a counselor, I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients and meeting them where they are in their lives. I believe in working together to improve overall daily functioning and wellness along with restoring health after trauma and life’s difficult moments. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space to help clients enhance their stress management, advance their use of coping skills and communication skills, and reframe negative thought processes along with working through any history of trauma. I am very open to feedback from my clients as I want therapy to be as effective as possible for you.

Julie Franklin MA, LPC earned her Master in Counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary in 2008. Julie works with clients suffering from mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, bi-polar disorder I & II, PTSD, and ADHD. She works with clients to resolve issues related to low self-worth, co-dependency, anger, relationship challenges, young adult related challenges, grief and loss, narcissistic abuse, trauma, and issues related to parenting a child/adult with special needs.

I see so many people who aren’t necessarily unwell, but feel trapped and unable to make progress in their lives. They’re "going through the motions" – and getting caught up in issues that they could actually solve quite easily. It breaks my heart when clients believe they can’t fix their unresolved issues – and that the history handed to them dictates their future. My gift is helping my clients recognize their unique mental strengths and natural skill sets, so they can navigate from the uncomfortable present toward a more empowered future.

My experience comes from my work at Bancroft School with autistic and deaf children; Robins' Nest Inc. working with DYFS' foster and adopted children & families, at risk families, and mentally ill children; Mother/Child Residential Center as a counselor to the women in the center; as an outpatient counselor and parental group facilitator at Danellie Counseling Center; at The Postpartum Stress & Family Wellness Center as a child/adolescent and perinatal mood specialist; and in private practice.

I have a passion for assisting people with Complex PTSD and trauma. I have personal and professional experience with healing trauma working with adults, youth and children for over twenty years.
