My practice encompasses work with individuals, couples, families, children and group work from diverse backgrounds. My focus is to provide services for those who are struggling with conflicted relationships, anxiety, depression, anger management, parenting and communication issues. I also help clients to deal with life transitions and life stressors by helping them organize their thoughts and feelings to be more effective. Are you feeling anxious and out of control when you think about your child? Do you have questions about relationships or parenting? I have a background in both development and psychotherapy. I teach parents about development and help them learn what is "getting in the way" of parenting the way they want to. I also help couples "get on the same page" with parenting. Children come here to enhance development, learn social skills and have good self esteem. Children with developmental, behavioral and sensory concerns find a safe place to grow and explore. Parent Coaching is also available.

I have experience implementing various groups including a social skills groups for children, teen support groups and parenting skills groups.
Do you find yourself feeling worried regarding your family, relationship or work? Are you concerned about your child's behavior or your relationship with them? Many of my clients have considerable insight into their situation, but most find it difficult to change unproductive behavioral patterns or just "make" themselves feel better. I believe that change begins with knowing that no one is perfect...that every once in awhile we can all benefit from someone who will listen and guide us through our personal journeys.

I work with individuals and families, ages 12-65 and can provide parent support and coaching.
We all struggle from time to time, but recently you’ve been feeling more burnt out than usual. Perhaps you’ve been dealing with constant worry, feelings of overwhelm, sleepless nights or just a general dissatisfaction with life. Sometimes the thought runs through your head of “is it supposed to feel like this?” or maybe you’re hounded by the feeling of “this is not where I should be in life.” Sometimes you may even wonder if you’re a good friend, spouse, parent, or child. On the outside, you probably appear to be functioning and successful. On the inside, you feel prisoner to your negative thoughts and perfectionism.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
