I want you to be free of emotional pain and find meaning and purpose in all areas of your life.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”- Maya Angelou. Are you lost in your emotions and feel like life is “unraveling”? One of the bravest things you can do is seek help and begin to understand your own story. I believe early life experiences shape how we see ourselves and the world around us that can develop into negative beliefs about who we are. Over time old beliefs and patterns that once helped protect us are no longer useful and can cause disruption in all areas of life. Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, let trauma control us and feel anxious/depressed/angry all the time.

Chronic pain/illness is dear to my heart.
You may think of yourself as bad, worthless, crazy or sick. You may feel shame for behaviors you have done. You may wish the ground would swallow you up. You may have no energy to face another day. You may know that beneath that darkness and gloom is a beautiful soul. It is okay to be human and to have ups and downs. It is okay to need someone to embrace your journey and tread the waters of life with you. You are worth the fight. You are deserving of peace. You matter. No amount of trauma, pain, challenge, illness and broken-heart can change that.

I haven't known a single client whom I couldn't relate to, whose pain and attempts to deal with it I could not empathize with, on some basic level.
It's time to totally shake it up. Forget what you think you know about therapy or what you need to do to change your life... Making that level of change means confronting Truth and fundamentally changing yourself. I won't sugarcoat it and I certainly won't lie to you: I will tell you what you need to know and guide you toward making the proper choices in your life. And I'll prove it to you right now: I tell you outright that I can't fix you. No one can. The only person that has that sort of power over you IS you. This involves hard choices in learning how to manage your life. And I will stand beside you every step of the way.

Therapy can help you to stay on the right track or find the right directions to minimize unnecessary sufferings.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
