I am a bilingual licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I work with a wide range of clients including children, adolescents and adults. The most important part of therapy is the connection I have with my clients. I pride myself in my ability to connect with my clients in a warm and compassionate way. My counseling style is interactive which allows for a more personal and individualized therapeutic experience.

I have extensive experience working with such conditions as anxiety, depression, work-related stress, grief/loss, life transitions, parenting issues, relationship issues, developmental trauma, racial trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I trained in psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral and emotionally-focused therapy with individuals, couples, parents and families. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative as I draw from traditional insight-oriented and cognitive therapies as well as experiential body/mind, and psychobiological techniques.

I focus on client-centered therapy. Each client is a unique being and is part of a complex environment. They bring a set of personal characteristics and a life history. Therapy is based on the client's perspective of their need and we work on changes, achievements, and resilience as we face each challenge.

I focus on cognitive restructuring to challenge individuals and their thoughts about themselves and others so they can work towards reframing their faulty cognitions, thinking more positively and realistically, and reducing dysfunctional behaviors. In addition, the problem-solving technique helps clients address problems and unhealthy behaviors within the session and then eventually find healthy solutions. In sessions, modeling and role-playing will also be taught and practiced to encourage effective communication skills.

My therapy style is to provide my clients with a safe and welcoming environment. I will always do my best to meet my clients where they are and help them arrive at answers or conclusions with adequate guidance and respect. I believe therapy is about the relationship you form with your therapist and the trust that builds within that relationship will allow the communication process to be effective.
