As a therapist, my main objective is to provide a supportive, comforting, and safe environment for my patients so they can achieve their personal treatment goals. I work to empower my clients to not only see their potential but to reach it as well. Together with my clients, we determine their treatment goals. Using different treatment modalities, we work on achieving those goals and improving their mood and overall quality of life. I strongly believe that therapy is not a journey taken alone, but a journey taken together.

I have helped countless individuals overcome difficulties that have prevented them from enjoying their lives. I am truly fulfilled by this work and am grateful for every opportunity I am given to make an impact. I utilize a mix of humor and empathy in sessions and aim to empower my clients. I take my clients' lead as to whether they prefer a more passive, listening approach or if they want to set goals and complete weekly homework. I have 17 years of experience helping adults with depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, addiction, and Bipolar Disorder, among other conditions.

I have extensive experience providing therapeutic services. However, the therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance. Whether the patient improves hinges on that relationship. My goal is to provide client-centered care. I work in a collaborative manner with the client to identify specific goals and interventions in order to assist the client in making improvements. It is important to match the intervention with the needs of the client and be flexible in making adjustments.

My approach to therapy is fully based on the belief that everyone has the innate and natural ability to improve themselves. I use an integrated approach that helps people to challenge and unravel any unhealthy thought patterns that may be disempowering them in any way. I believe the relationship that a person has with themselves is the most important relationship because it ultimately determines how they experience life and the world around them. This explains why my approach is always focused on fostering self-worth, self-esteem, and resilience.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists

How does cognitive processing therapy work?

A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?

CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?

A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
