A strong, trusting relationship between therapist and the person seeking help is essential for the healing process, and I work hard to facilitate this partnership with you. The first step toward therapy is often the hardest. Please do not hesitate to call or email me for a consultation.

Most of my experience has been working with clients who are struggling with mental health concerns, such as Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, ADHD, and Psychosis. I have also worked extensively with clients who have experienced relationship issues, trauma and abuse, and interpersonal conflict. I believe that my role as a therapist is to listen and understand the needs and motivations of my clients. Once there is understanding of the client's goals, then we can work together to help him/her/them get there and conquer obstacles that may be getting in the way.

I’m a clinical counselor and somatic experiencing practitioner, specializing in Polyvagal coaching. I focus on recent advancements in mind-body connection that allow us to change our sensory reaction to stress in order to maximize the way we perform in our various fields, with a soft specialty in athletic performance. My focus on somatic experiencing through a polyvagal lens suggests a holistic understanding of how trauma manifests in the body and how it can be healed.

You often feel misunderstood, ignored, even silenced, and this prevents you from asking for what you want...for what you deserve. And, every time you think you are ready to say how you feel or ask for what you want, you realize you are just too exhausted and would rather keep your feelings to yourself to avoid conflict. Deep down you know that you are struggling with your confidence (although you may not show it on the outside). You find yourself in a cycle of unhealthy relationships but you can’t find the motivation or the courage to break the cycle. It’s time to break the cycle and speak up.

Daily life has become challenging trying to balance our families, relationships, careers and goals. You may be feeling overwhelmed, experiencing anxiety that won’t allow you to move forward and you just can’t seem to get out of your own head. Perhaps you feel ready to take the steps to improve your quality of life, but you don’t know where to start. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space where we can openly discuss any obstacles and recognize patterns that may be holding you back. I now offer Telemental health sessions using a confidential computer platform so you can be in the comfort of your own home.

In many ways our relational environments and contemporary lifestyles do not not support well-being. Typically we spend so much time in thought and disconnected from our own body and other somebodies. Our minds are on overdrive, revving up our autonomic nervous systems and alienating us from the present moment and from one another. As a therapist I bring the body into the conversation. Through mindfulness and somatic practices we slow down the pace, observe the body’s language and lovingly craft a more compassionate response.

I firmly believe that life is easier lived when lived in relationship. In relationship, we can receive support, understanding, growth, and acceptance, making difficult life experiences much more bearable. We find and make relationships in so many domains; at home, with friends, in communities, and even with a therapist. That is why I think finding a therapist you feel safe with is so important.

Life events often create mental and emotional blocks that keep you feeling stuck. Together, we will identify issues, unprocessed memories and experiences, dysfunctional patterns of behavior, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and other barriers that are preventing you from being where you want to be. We will start with where you are right now and work towards an overall improved sense of emotional well-being.
