You can expect a warm, compassionate person-centered approach, pulling in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention, and Internal Family Systems, as needed.
How brave of you to be searching for a therapist. Getting to this point often means the struggles you face have gotten to a point of affecting your quality of life; and admitting this can feel defeating. At the same time, if you’re here, you know therapy can be an opportunity to improve your well-being. By collaborating with me, we can build an understanding of your struggles and work through embracing meaningful growth and change. My twenty years experience in the mental health field has taught me that the most significant change and healing comes from within the client, and can be fostered through a supportive therapeutic rapport.

Trained in several clinical modalities, my practice style is eclectic; incorporating pieces of DBT and CBT as well as Motivational Interviewing.
Handling complex issues of Sex, Gender, Relationships & Sexuality-related struggles; Anxiety, Stress & Depression; Substance Use & Related Issues... None of these is easy to navigate. Each stressors can be uniquely and incredibly difficult to manage thus causing pain, hopelessness, anxiety, & depression; often seemingly paralyzing. Thankfully, there is help, there is hope. You are not broken and together we can find your path. Please, call ( / leave a VM) or email me today. With my non-judgmental approach my only goal is to help you meet your own personal goals, to achieve your own vision of fulfillment; whatever that may look like.

I offer an integrated approach of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and ACT skills to promote insight and growth.
It goes without saying that these have been trying times. With the stresses, losses, and fatigue brought on by the pandemic, and anxieties and uncertainty about the future, many of our daily routines have given way to depression, anxiety, tension with others, and unhealthy coping. Psychotherapy can provide the support needed to improve how you feel and function by reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms, reducing excess drinking or substance use, increasing awareness and skills in personal interactions, and improving your overall outlook on life.

I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Motivational Interviewing - two highly effective, evidence-based practices.
Everyone has unrealized goals. Maybe you're having trouble with motivation, or you don't know where to start. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or depression. Or wondering whether your drinking is getting in the way. I help people transform the obstacles keeping them from being their best selves. Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership where we work together to get you where you want to be.

I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, a person-centered approach and motivational interviewing.
Do you lack positive self-worth and self-esteem? I want to support you and assist you in rebuilding your confidence to effectively care for your mental health. Have you suffered a traumatic experience? It's possible that you haven’t processed the trauma or established effective coping skills to manage the symptoms you continue to suffer. Maybe, you’ve attempted to resolve the symptoms associated to your trauma with substances or other harmful coping, in an attempt to escape your reality. I want to help you understand your triggers and I want to help you to begin to accept yourself.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists

How does motivational interviewing work?

Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.

Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?

Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.

How long does motivational interviewing last?

Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.

What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?

In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
