My passion is bringing hope and healing to people facing the many challenges found in our daily lives. We live in an uncertain world and often our resilience and emotional health is tested. We endure broken relationships, chronic illnesses, abuses, loss of loved ones, school and job challenges along with life transitions. Many of us have now been impacted by larger events such as the pandemic, natural disasters, and community violence. It is my belief and my experience, that with every obstacle or adversity we face, we posses an underlying reliance that enables us to conquer those challenges and feel confident in managing our lives.

I would identify my ideal client as an adolescent who is experiencing mental health issues and/or interpersonal difficulties. This could include an individual experiencing PTSD-related symptoms, depressive symptoms, anxiety, and other mental health-related issues. This could also include an individual experiencing life stressors/transitions, difficulties in developing healthy and sustainable relationships, complex grief, and lack of self-esteem and role identification. The goals of an ideal client would include improving mental health-related symptoms through the application of coping skills, communication skills, and self-esteem.

Along with my private practice, I was the Director of Counseling at a private independent boarding/day high school and particularly enjoy supporting individuals that are making the transition to young adulthood. I work primarily with older adults (62+) and the issues that they face at that time in their lives. Often these issues relate to anxiety about an illness that they or a loved one are experiencing. Caregiving a family member, particularly a spouse, creates a tremendous amount of stress in individuals. The sense of loss that occurs when a spouse has a chronic illness is profound. They grieve the dreams that they had for this time in their lives. Many times, a sense of isolation occurs with caring for, or the loss of a loved one.

My experience and specialized interests include working with individuals who are dealing with employment-related matters in high-demand/high-profile industries; experiencing concerns related to body image, sex, and sexuality; diagnosed or suspect mental illness; identified as LGBTQIA; justice-impacted; and in the higher education community.

With today's societal norms and stigmas, so many of us are hurt, misunderstood, rejected, outcasted, and isolated to the point that we often become hesitant to seek out help.
