I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety related to school, peer relationships and family conflict.
I am a clinical psychologist who works with individual children, adolescents and adults. I believe successful treatment is based upon a warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Changing patterns of behavior, ways of thinking and relating to others can be daunting and requires a patient and understanding therapist who can help you tackle the problem from different angles.

I show women how to manage their anxiety, shame, and guilt with compassion and effective coping.
Everyday you get up, you get dressed, and you try to pretend like you are okay. You show up for your partner, your kids, and your job, but inside you are questioning everything you do. Constantly you compare yourself to others and you wish that you could just feel good enough. There are things you want to do, but you can’t seem to make a decision and move forward. So you stay stuck and feel like a failure that you can’t be the best version of yourself. Women are particularly good at pushing themselves to do more, be more, and give more. It is hard to take care of yourself and create space to unpack your thoughts and emotions.

I love supporting adults struggling with OCD, anxiety, ADHD, codependency, boundary-setting, and challenging family dynamics. I particularly enjoy young adults, early professionals, and seniors navigating life transitions and seeking to understand themselves more deeply. We’ll explore attachment styles and patterns from early childhood that may impact you now and practice mindfulness and boundary work. With anxiety and OCD, I use exposure techniques and Jeffrey Schwartz’s Brainlock and 4Rs to reduce intrusive thoughts and compulsive thoughts and behaviors. I work with adolescents and adults, both individually and in groups, on issues such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety, mood swings, relationship problems, as well as a wide variety of other problems.
People end up in my office because what were once adaptive styles of coping no longer work for them. I provide a warm, safe environment in which they can begin to understand why they feel and/or act the way they do, and to try to learn new, more effective ways to cope with what they are dealing with now, and what may come their way in the future.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
