It has been my privilege helping people rapidly heal from trauma both past and present incorporating God's guidance with proven psychological techniques-i.e., EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Imago Therapy. I like it when I hear someone say that they can never get over some hurt in their life and then be able, with God's help, to get them past it to a place of peace with what happen. In addition I work with ADHD ( adult & adolescent ), addictions, ACOA, couple counseling, marital problems, divorce recovery , anxiety, Depression, unresolved grief issues, interventions, PTSD, DID, panic attacks....

I have experience treating a variety of clients from young children, teens, parents, and grandparents. I have assisted them through traditional treatment as well as custody evaluations, bonding evaluations, reunification therapy, and learning assessments. In treatment, I have used EMDR skills to treat high levels of anxiety. My experience with depression and other mood disorders has spanned almost 20 years of practice in psychology. I work collaboratively with my clients. There is no question or experience too big or small for us to examine and unlock together.

I am also trained in very cutting edge therapies like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and AMST (Affect Management Skills Training).
I work with teens and adults individually and with family members as needed. I also work with couples. I have over twenty five years of experience treating many different kinds of problems including traumatic experiences, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and panic disorders, and relationship issues. My approach to therapy is to individually design a treatment plan that will best meet your specific concerns. This plan is collaboratively created with you. As you share your presenting concerns and history in the beginning stages of therapy, we get to know each other and together set goals for therapy.

In addition to psychotherapy I have been trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or “tapping”), and Meaning Centered Psychotherapy.
Whether by necessity or choice, change and self-exploration can be hard. Often, taking the first step in seeking help can be the most difficult one. The fortitude it takes to face fears, address issues, trust in others and change behavior can be rewarded with leading a happier, more fulfilling and more meaningful life. In a safe and supportive environment with an atmosphere of respect, care and kindness, I work collaboratively with my clients with the goal of alleviating their suffering.

It can be overwhelming when you know something in your life needs to change, but you don't know exactly what it is, how to get started, or who can help you take action. Losing hope can happen when you are stuck in the repeating cycle of destructive actions, negative thoughts, or painful emotions that don't seem to show any signs of improvement.

No Waiting List! Being a parent is not what you expected. This pretty picture everyone paints about having a child and a happy family has not been your experience. “Enjoy every moment. It goes by so fast”, they say. Well what should you enjoy? The constant screaming, crying, diaper changes, feedings, laundry, sleepless nights... You don’t get a break. You are constantly worrying. Is the baby eating enough? What if they are overeating? Are they cold? Are they hot? Are they sick?

My certification in TF-CBT and extensive training in CBT, EMDR, Solution Focus CBT, have equipped me to guide individuals and families on a healing path.
Hurt does not discriminate, and embarking on a journey towards healing is possible. Although, It can hardly be achieves alone. With Amarce, there will be moments of action and of stillness; opportunities for curiosity and for unlearning; accepting new ways of being, breaking cycles that have shaped us, and above all, embracing the beautiful yet complex humanity that exists within all of us. I work with adults who never got a chance to heal, who wish to connect with their "inner wounded child". Experienced in treating kids and teens who have experienced BIG or little hurts. I help in bridging the gaps between parents and kids.

Sometimes during therapy I will swtich from EMDR to talk therapy because it is something we have decided on together and what may make sense in that session.
I take an individual approach to each client, tailoring my methods to a persons needs and issues. I use cognitive behavioral techniques to help my clients manage their issues (i.e. anxieties, relationships etc.) by changing counterproductive thought patterns. There are times in all of our lives when we could use some extra support. Feeling hurt, misunderstood, angry, and confused are things each of us may feel.I am available to meet with children, adolescents, and adults on an individual basis as well as family/couples counseling. Feel free to contact me with any questions, or to see if I am the right fit

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
