I use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach and empower clients to recognize their own abilities.
Accepting New Clients! Welcome. Starting therapy can feel scary and vulnerable. My goal is to provide an accepting and non-judgmental environment for you to process your feelings. We will work together to find the right approach to meet your goals. Together we will overcome grief, loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I also have a special interest in working with the LGBTQIA+ population.

I am a trauma-informed therapist specializing in helping you unpack those things that connect your past and present to build a more fulfilling, authentic future.
You're looking for more than therapy. Coping skills and “dealing with it” haven’t helped you actually feel better. It’s hard to make your way in a world that doesn’t always see you for who you are or what you’ve been through. You might feel weighed down from the outside and inside – from ongoing stress, a less than ideal relationship, or pain from the past that has never been soothed. You’re tense, on edge, and you’re not acting like the person you want to be and know you can be. Here’s the good news: No matter what you’ve been through or how you’re feeling now, you absolutely can heal, grow, and feel whole.

You seem to have it all together on the outside. You live by the golden rule, working hard, extending compassion while taking care of everyone but yourself. You say, “I am fine,” when you know you are not. The fear of judgment or something terrible happening weighs heavily on your mind. High standards, whether self-imposed or external, feel impossible to meet, leaving you hindered and overwhelmed. You feel stuck in negative cycles, distracting yourself from uncomfortable feelings through overworking, shopping, or drinking too much. Constantly in survival mode, you experience stress, anxiety, fatigue, confusion, and overwhelm.

I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, parenting, relational difficulties, and identity issues.
Therapy as a collaborative process in which we work together to understand the problems that have brought you in, and work towards mutually established goals. Psychotherapy involves verbalizing your thoughts and feelings, exploring relational and behavioral patterns, and learning how past experiences may impact you now. Through this process we strive to gain greater awareness of how both conscious and unconscious processes play out in your emotional and relational life. Ultimately, therapy can help individuals come to better understand themselves and enjoy greater choice in their lives.

My specialties include complex trauma and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Welcome. I believe it is a great privilege and responsibility to accompany someone on their healing journey. My approach to therapy begins with a firm belief in the inherent dignity of the individual. You aren’t damaged, nor do you need to be fixed. All symptoms—negative thinking, addictions, unhealthy coping strategies—develop to help you survive. Habitual ways of being, therefore, need to be seen through a lens of compassion and curiosity. I strive to create an atmosphere of respect and trust in which clients can safely explore their background, relationships, and inner workings of the mind, to help alleviate their suffering.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
