I have worked with personality disorders, co-occuring disorders, LGBTQ+, and utilize motivational interviewing, CBT and DBT.
My ideal client struggles with depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. They have issues dealing with their stress and need to work on coping skills. They also may be struggling when it comes to communication and speaking up for themselves they may be struggling with school, Work, relationships, and want to find better ways to carry themselves through it. They want to understand where their behaviors come from, whether it be from childhood or a product of their environment. They may just want to have a judgment free place to vent.

To reflect this individual approach, I incorporate a multitude of evidence based practices such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered.
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted? Admitting that life’s daily stressors have become overwhelming can be one of the hardest admissions we make to ourselves, but that admission is also the first step towards true change. Change can be a challenging path to navigate but I believe that everyone has a path, as winding and difficult as it may seem, that we all have to go through at some point. Whether those stressors are anxiety, depression, trauma or a general life transition, my goal is to provide a comforting and safe environment where we can identify the steps that need to be taken and walk that new path together.

I have received additional training on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and in practice found this a useful tool for teenage girls diagnosed with bipolar disorder, as well as anxiety and depression.
Each individual brings their own unique challenges, history, needs, and desires. In order to best serve each person, a therapist must offer a judgment and bias free atmosphere. Every client comes to therapy with a different struggle, trauma or experience and I will strive to provide a positive, meaningful experience to achieve the best possible outcome for success. I do believe a client can find an ideal therapist: a person with whom trust and rapport is built, who offers an unconditionally safe space to listen and collaborate.

As a Licensed Social Worker, I will work alongside you to define and work towards your goals. I approach all clients from a strengths based perspective, which has been shaped around the philosophy that people are not fundamentally fragile. I will help clients use these principles to promote their strengths and to improve confidence and functioning. Although I have experience with a variety of populations, I am especially versed in grief work.

I will utilize DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing and solution focused therapy.
They're issues are centered around their relationships. Some examples are conflict with parents / friends, bullying, lack of self-esteem, and social isolation. Their needs include being heard & understood. Goals can be to develop more confidence in themselves and to make friends. Teens and adolescents just want to know that someone cares & is not judging them for their thoughts or feelings. This is due to the fact that they might not feel comfortable talking to family and sometimes friends about what's going on.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
