Hi, I am Jodi Goldberg, board certified and licensed Art Therapist, owner and primary Art Therapist of Children’s Art Therapy. I have office locations in Hoboken and Manalapan, NJ, as well as offering telehealth services. During my career as an Art Therapist, I have worked with children and adults in settings such as outpatient hospital units, domestic violence and homeless shelters, schools, nursing homes/rehabilitation facilities, in addition to private practice. At Children’s Art Therapy, I see children ages 3-21 and also offer services to parents, as I believe it is necessary to connect the therapy process to home and school.

In our sessions, we delve into whether the substance abuse pattern is related to their mental health symptoms or if the psychiatric condition contributes to increased substance abuse. Over my 20+ years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field, I've found it rewarding to help clients explore and implement evidence-based clinical interventions while offering support during their early recovery journey.

They're issues are centered around their relationships. Some examples are conflict with parents / friends, bullying, lack of self-esteem, and social isolation. Their needs include being heard & understood. Goals can be to develop more confidence in themselves and to make friends. Teens and adolescents just want to know that someone cares & is not judging them for their thoughts or feelings. This is due to the fact that they might not feel comfortable talking to family and sometimes friends about what's going on.

As a Licensed Social Worker, I will work alongside you to define and work towards your goals. I approach all clients from a strengths based perspective, which has been shaped around the philosophy that people are not fundamentally fragile. In my therapeutic practice, I blend psychodynamic and attachment theories with pragmatic behavioral approaches to treatment. My understanding of the human experience is informed by my studies in literature and 20 years' experience managing people and using systemic approaches to problem solving.

The ideal client is someone motivated to make a positive change in their life, understanding that consistent effort is more realistic than constant motivation. They are open to learning how to harness their strengths, develop coping skills, and work collaboratively toward their desired goals.

My ideal clients are women who've recently realized they've suffered from narcissistic abuse. These brave individuals seek therapy whilst feeling sad, confused, scared, and angry, torn between the truth and the illusion of their past relationships. At first, they struggle to identify and express their needs due to codependency. My goal is to provide compassionate support and guidance to help them navigate this challenging journey towards healing and self-discovery.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been counseling individuals, families, and groups for the past 26 years. My specialty is working with adult men who are struggling with relationships and life transitions. Through my training and teaching of therapeutic wilderness survival and my years working and teaching at Rutgers University, I am very familiar with the issues young adults and adults in today's world are challenged with. Additionally, I have spent many years working at Arms Acres and The SAFE Foundation, with individuals and family members of individuals struggling with process of addiction and recovery.
