Are you struggling confidence, feeling guilty, anger, tired, worried, difficulties making decisions , or intrusive thoughts? My practice works with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, intergenerational trauma, parenting, relationships stressors, work stress/challenges, and/or life transitions. I also work well with parents that are feeling overwhelmed, and struggle with healthy communication due to their own childhood trauma or upbringings. You can work on strengthening problem solving, parenting skills, setting boundaries, and modifying behaviors that are no longer helpful.

In my twenty years of working in the mental health field, I've learned that it is not the situation that can render us helpless, but the meaning we create about the situation. The judgments we make about ourselves and others can make a situation worse, creating anxiety, depression, or undue stress. I specialize in providing therapeutic interventions to decrease self defeating patterns and negative self-talk. You will be engaged in a partnership as treatment goals are identified to personalize your care. I specialize in the following therapies: DBT, CBT, EMDR, Mindfulness Meditation, Hypnotherapy, and Imago Couple Therapy.

My involvement and training in crisis work has provided me with a sensitivity to issues of anxiety, depression, grief, and loss.
My style is personal and interactive with a strength-based approach rooted in respect for each individual I see. Each person brings an unique set of strengths and challenges to our sessions. I listen to the unique needs and concerns and provide feedback based on exploration of those issues which interfere with a person's ability to live life to the fullest-whether it be the self-image of a child, concern of a parent, self-esteem of an adolescent, confusion of a young adult, life challenges of an adult, grief and loss of an older adult.

I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults on a wide variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and grief, in both individual and family therapy.
Life brings change and challenges, sometimes without warning or without our permission. Understandably, these periods can be stressful and frustrating for us and for our families. We do our best to respond to the curveballs that life throws at us in order to move forward. Sometimes, we find that we are not able to push forward as well as we'd like to. You are not alone-- and asking for support is okay. Although we can't stop change from affecting our lives, connecting with a trusted professional to share our story is the first step to regaining control and to letting go of some of that weight on our shoulders.

If you are looking to unlearn self-defeating behaviors, tackle negative thoughts, re-learn your purpose, feel heard, work on relationships, and possibly understand your children, let us meet, I am a LGBTQI-A supporting clinician who has worked with individuals that have anxiety, depression, trauma, been involved with DCP&P and just need someone to listen.
Hello, I am a bilingual and bicultural therapist whose goal is to support my patients/clients to feel heard and validated. I want my patients to progress and understand that their diagnosis does not define nor control them. I am willing to walk this journey with my patients and push them when they need the push, and support them when they feel “alone”. I graduated in May of 2020, with my Master of Science in Marriage, Family, and Couples, I have been working with patients on a therapeutic level for about 2 years. However, I have worked in case management roles and child protection collectively for over 20 years.

Working with a therapist that you trust can be a life changing experience. Are you having problems with a relationship or work, financial stress, substance abuse or another addiction? Or are you anxious, sad, or overwhelmed? Things can get better. One of my clients told me that my office was a sacred space. In this environment you may feel free to truly express yourself and face the problems that are bothering you. Some of my work has been with people who were in unhealthy relationships or exposed to trauma in their early years.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
