As a spouse and father of four young children, I understand how the stresses of daily life can wear us all down. I was drawn into the field of counseling due to my desire to help individuals, who like myself can sometimes feel overwhelmed or alone. For the last 8 years I have enjoyed counseling a diverse group of adults, youth, and families. I draw from a variety of techniques and one of my strengths is being able to adapt my counseling style to each individual I work with. It is this skill that allows me to come up with the best and most effective treatment for every person I counsel.

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in New Jersey. I help clients improve their motivation, self esteem, and confidence. My therapeutic experience lies within a variety areas including substance use/ abuse, relationship issues, anxiety and panic, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, and more! I also specialize in treating justice-involved adults which requires specialized attention to trauma and adverse life events. I am an experienced mental health counselor, former school counselor, and parent coach who provides support and guidance to adolescents, couples, college students, and adults who are facing emotional, psychological, behavioral, and societal challenges. I am an immigrant, who believes everyone can benefit from building a positive therapeutic relationship, where problems can be worked through and their meanings understood. My clinical approach is rooted in the therapeutic relationship. Empathy, validation, and the provision of a safe environment are essential aspects of a positive healing alliance. It will become easier to make more satisfying choices by gaining a fuller understanding of yourself. I'm a firm believer in navigating our present through self-awareness, reflection, intention, healing, love, and mindfulness. I love helping individuals overcome life's challenges, learn new skills, and holding space for them to feel vulnerable, transparent, heard, and supported. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and families in settings such as schools, in-home, outpatient, inpatient, and private practice. My experience includes helping individuals with anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, relationship issues, low self-esteem, gender identity and orientation.

I found my calling within the community serving as an in-home counselor and also attending at Beth Israel Medical Center as a Mental Health Clinician, since 2011. The psychotherapy work focus around Individual and family needs, using Family System, CBT and Strength-Based approach. I'm also experienced with children trauma, behavior issues, anger management, domestic violence, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety. Another passion of mine centers around Immigration. I offer psychosocial evaluations for immigration cases. I am a native Portuguese/Spanish speaker and have experience working with clients with a history of trauma and abuse.

Deisther Munoz is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the State of New Jersey. She has over 14 years of experience providing therapeutic care to many ages of various cultural backgrounds and a range of clinical diagnoses. These include major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring disorders. Deisther completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Psychiatric Rehabilitation from Kean University and University of Medicine and Dentistry. She also received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson. Throughout her career, Deisther has worked in various psychiatric settings.
