Buddhism teaches us that change is a fundamental truth of the healing process. Yet, change is so hard, and anxiety, depression and grief often accompany it. Fortunately, so does new growth. I love to support people navigating change and life transitions. I specialize in attachment and relationships and believe they are the foundation of our ability to heal. I support people through separation and divorce, perinatal and postpartum adjustment, parenting and co-parenting, family conflict, grief and loss, trauma and racial identity development. As we heal our relationship with self, we show up more fully in relationship with others.

Are you a growth-oriented woman seeking greater levels of happiness in your career and relationships? I am passionate about helping women uncover and shine a light on their true life goals and desires. As women, I believe that we receive messages starting in girlhood about the ways that we are expected to live our lives. Yet it is living as our authentic selves, not following the life scripts set by others, that rewards us with greater levels of happiness and reduces feelings of anxiety and depression. This life is possible for you! I look forward to the privilege of working with you as you journey forward.

My expertise covers a broad range of concerns such as anxiety, depression and accompanying behaviors such as eating disorders and other escapes resulting in chronic grief, self harming experiences and unwanted relationship patterns.
It is exciting, you are taking steps to find support. I am licensed in CA and NJ. I work with individuals, couples and families experiencing relationship stress or attachment trauma. The hallmark of trauma is the loss of basic trust. Our mind-body connection is powerful. In the short-term, it finds the quickest route to safety. Yet, overtime the protection it affords can become a pattern that adversely affects our well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families to hear each others' feelings and attachment needs. Reaching authentic bonding with self and others is the goal of attachment based therapy.

You're at the crossroads, transitioning out of a relationship, job, or stage of life. Something fell apart, or fell into your lap, and it's overwhelming to imagine the next steps. You want to get it "right", or you're worried you'll get it "wrong"... You are an empathic person who cares deeply about others and the state of the world. Imagine yourself more connected to your Self - all the parts, including those you know are there in the shadows. Imagine having healthier boundaries, better ways of relating to yourself and others, and an ability to find the courage to step in the each day with a renewed sense of purpose.

In my practice, I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, and problems associated with stress, relationships, life transitions, grief, and loss.
I have always liked the metaphor that therapy is like riding in the car with someone. You are the one behind the wheel, deciding where and how fast we go and I am the one with the map helping you to get there. I believe in forming collaborative relationships with the people I work with. I strive to help you understand yourself better so that you can make meaningful change in your life. My goal is to help you form strategies and ways of thinking that can be translated from the therapy room to every day life - to work, school. relationships, and within yourself.

I want to acknowledge your courage in taking steps towards improving your mental health and wellbeing. You may have found yourself here because you are seeking something - maybe relief from emotional pain, clarity of your goals, or support during a difficult time. Perhaps you are stressed by the demands of work or school, or are having challenges coping with global issues or changes in your life. Maybe you are noticing that uncomfortable feelings like anxiety or sadness are becoming more constant and impacting your functioning or relationships. I want you to know that whatever your "mountain" is, you don't have to climb it alone.

Areas for exploration include anxiety, connecting wholeheartedly in relationships, navigating career and workplace related matters, exploring various aspects of identity, reflecting on purpose and meaning, and gaining deeper insight into the inner workings of ourselves.
You can do hard things... that’s what led you here! Welcome. I hope you feel proud of ‘showing up’ today. We all want and deserve to feel seen; yet it is often uncomfortable for us to invite in vulnerability and allow others to see us, genuinely and authentically as we are. Sometimes, it’s even hard for us to see and accept ourselves. I believe strong therapeutic alliances and environments foster safe and brave space to explore existential questions, sit with thoughts and feelings, challenge internalized messages, societal norms, expectations and systems that cause us to feel boxed in.

My approach to therapy is compassionate and respectful. In addition to gaining greater understanding of your self, therapy is an opportunity to learn specific skills and techniques for meeting your goals and feeling better. I value therapy as a time to face difficulties and break free from unsatisfying ways of feeling, thinking, or being in relationships with others. As a clinical psychologist, I am experienced in helping clients struggling with anxiety, low mood, painful or intense emotions, problems in close relationships, and self-criticism.

I assist adults, teenagers and children to improve the quality of their lives by identifying and resolving issues themselves and in relationships with others. I help people to know that having problems is normal, but that it also normal to resolve problems. People learn that by taking control of their lives, they reduce depression, anxiety and anger.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
