My methods are deeply rooted in empathy, aided by a caring heart and an analytical mind, as well as an ability to build strong relationships and enlist clients' cooperation in facing life’s journeys. I use plain and even colorful language to create an atmosphere of safety, trust, honesty, openness, understanding, and growth. I've been in practice over 19 years. More than 7 of my years in practice have been dedicated to in-home therapy services. I have seen first-hand how much more at ease my clients are when completing sessions at home. I add to that comfort by bringing open-minded kindness, honesty, and respect to all households.

Whether you’re dealing with a recent life change or you’ve been having challenges with your mental health, I would love to help you get to a place where you feel more fulfilled and can become the best version of you! I believe we are often our own worst critic and could benefit from giving ourselves some grace as we navigate through life.

Children and adolescents have always been my main focus. They are often incredibly honest and once you get the heart of their behaviors it usually makes a lot of sense. The most common issues I've treated include: trauma / abuse, depression, anxiety, family conflict, substance abusing family members, co-dependency, mood disorders, self-injury, PTSD, self-medicating behaviors, acting out behaviors. Including the family is critical when working with children and adolescents. Therefore, family systems theory guides my interventions accordingly. There may be many factors that cause the problem, but the family is always a necessary element in the solution.

Working from a place of compassion and sensitivity, my goal is to make you feel heard and let you dig deeper in a warm, non-judgmental environment. Sometimes we have wounds that prevent us from discovering the truest versions of ourselves—I am here to help guide you through the healing process. We will focus on whatever challenges are most important to you, whether that means processing deeper issues from the past or exploring situational stressors. I’m particularly passionate about supporting women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. However, I have experience with all genders and sexualities, and I welcome anyone to reach out.

I work with a variety of clients and the diverse ways that people identify and live (including LGBTQ, ENM/Poly, kink).
You are feeling like you are at a crossroads. Maybe your relationship dynamics are changing, and you need to work on connecting with your partner or how to improve your sex life, or if it’s even the right relationship for you. Maybe life isn’t what you thought it would be and you want to explore your inner world more deeply. Perhaps you had a psychedelic experience that you need help integrating or making sense of. Things need to change and you aren’t sure how to start. Call me. I am here for support, to help you find freedom from unwanted patterns, and give feedback to help you create the life and relationships that you want.

I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and I have experience working with children, teens, and adults through the use of traditional talk therapy.
It's dangerous to go alone, so don't! Because therapy is tough. Reaching out for help is tough. So why should finding a therapist that understands you be tough? I am a self-described " geek" who believes therapy shouldn't be made any harder than it already is. I believe that knowledge and understanding are the first steps to change. I utilize a biological and neurological approach to understanding the source of behaviors. I invite you to lead the way on our journey together.

I frequently work with transgender, gender non-conforming and nonbinary, and LGBQ+ identified adult individuals.
Now accepting new clients! In my approach to therapy, I believe that problems do not arise spontaneously, but are instead influenced by the behaviors, opinions, and connections with those around us—even those who are no longer living. My intention is to build honest and trusting relationships with each of my clients so that healthier patterns can be created and new solutions learned.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
