Hello! I'm Megan, a licensed clinical social worker based in New Jersey. With over a decade of experience as a therapist, I've always been passionate about stories. I've had the privilege of helping people craft the next chapter of their lives in a way that brings them peace and joy. I believe that meaningful change in therapy stems from a strong connection and collaboration between client and therapist, so I strive to create a comfortable, judgment-free space for everyone I work with. When I'm not in session, I love spending time with my family, reading, dancing, and discovering new places.

Together we can start your journey! I have many years of successful licensed clinical counseling experience in the field of Alcohol and SUD, Anxiety and Depression, Grief, Anger, Couples Related Issues, Family Dynamics, Trauma, and Co-occuring Disorders. My focus is on Adult Patients (21+) who continue to struggle with PTSD, feel overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, depressed, who continue to grieve, or who continue to struggle with abstaining from alcohol and substance use. Taking that first step in the right direction is the beginning of your journey. It is time to make time for yourself and focus on the "here and now."

I have 23 years of training and experience working with adults who struggle with low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and anger. I'm also very experienced with clients working on transitions such as going to college, new job, marriage, starting a family, a divorce, or coping with a past or recent trauma. I've worked for many years in drug treatment too. I think clients are looking for a way to gain insight and awareness of how challenges effect their thinking, and want to learn new skills to improve how they feel and function in the world.

My ideal client would be a 13-21-year-old male with depression and anger issues; their goal is to discover their strengths and build positive relationships with family and peers. They want an outlet to talk about their feelings and complicated feelings and feel the need for an outside source to share, too.

I’ve supported individuals through various challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, family dynamics, and relationship difficulties.
The clients I work with are ready for change. They come to therapy ready to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work of transformation. They’re tired of how things have been and are eager to see real shifts in their lives. Even if they’re unsure of what needs to change or how to get there, that’s what our time together is for. It’s okay not to have all the answers just yet. What matters is the willingness to make those shifts happen.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group settings. I use a strengths-based approach and am trained in Internal Family Systems. I have experience with crisis work, long-term, and short-term therapy. We will start where you feel comfortable taking your "single step" and the journey will go at the pace we set together. You have all the answers- let me help you find them!

These problems frequently stem from workplace stress, family/relationship difficulties, physical illness, as well as other life cycle stressors and changes that can, and do challenge our ability to cope throughout the adult life cycle.
I have been practicing for 30+ years, and I am committed to working with you collaboratively, to create a therapeutic environment that is safe and one which recognizes that it takes courage to begin to address one's pain. My training is eclectic, which allows me to find the best way to help you to feel yourself, again, whether that may include cognitive behavioral therapy, insight-oriented, psychodynamic therapy, relaxation/mindfulness training or some other therapeutic path to personal change.

I wanted to get into the mental health field from a young age, as I was always surrounded by friends and family who struggled with mental health.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

Accepting new clients. Navigating mental health challenges can be overwhelming. Does your teenager need strategies to handle anxiety, depression, ADHD, or tics/Tourette Syndrome? Does your toddler need help with sleep, behavior, tantrums, toileting, or eating? Does your child need help adjusting to big changes: a new school, problems with friends, divorce, or a new and confusing medical diagnosis like diabetes, epilepsy, or migraines? Or perhaps you just need a place to talk, process, and grow? I have helped families navigate these challenges and more, creating space for positivity, warmth, gratitude, flexibility, and bravery.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
