Trauma and PTSD Therapists in Glen Ridge, NJ
My practice is clinically grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy specializing in trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and addictions.
Starting therapy both a daunting and exciting process. I will create a safe environment where you can feel comfortable in moments of discomfort. I strongly believe the relationship between therapist and client is the primary factor to change and growth within the individual. I emphasize importance on past/current relationships, believing that we are impacted and molded by our relationships with others. I maintain a strengths-based/humanistic approach to psychotherapy, while using a number of clinical tools (EMDR, Hypnotherapy, EFT, & Meditation) to cope with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings.

I work with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma.
Life events often create mental and emotional blocks that keep you feeling stuck. Together, we will identify issues, unprocessed memories and experiences, dysfunctional patterns of behavior, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and other barriers that are preventing you from being where you want to be. We will start with where you are right now and work towards an overall improved sense of emotional well-being.

My approach is particularly attuned to how relational, physical, or sexual trauma impacts your emotions and functioning.
I provide long-term psychodynamic therapy to adults and couples. I focus on exploring interpersonal and trauma-based patterns, and how they shape personality, emotions, and everyday functioning. I also use mindfulness, problem solving, and other strategies if your needs call for them. Meeting more than once per week can facilitate this work but I am open to your preference. I seek to create an open, engaged, comfortable, and constantly evolving therapeutic relationship that motivates you to work through your struggles. I individualize my approach to your unique needs and continually adapt as therapy proceeds.

We often put self-care on the back burner. If you feel stuck, low or overwhelmed, now is the time to start therapy and make positive change in your life. There is no problem too small or big; work and relationships, postpartum and parenting, trauma and grief all deserve reflection and healing.

Over the past decade with individual, group and family therapy, my work has focused primarily on trauma, anxiety, self injurious behaviors, emotional regulation, parenting challenges, family stressors, and intimate partner abuse.
Something brought you to this site today. Whether you’re in the thick of a crisis, haunted by past traumas, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or wrestling with anxiety...you’re here. Stress and suffering can have huge effects on relationships, health, mood, and everyday life. Feeling overwhelmed is exhausting. Feeling stuck can be so lonely. Being flooded by racing thoughts can leave you feeling hopeless. In therapy we can’t make life stressors go away, and we can’t undo the hurt you’ve experienced. But we can work together to make sense of your past, stay centered in the moment, and move forward confidently into your future.

Are you ready to be more present, to find and cultivate greater levels of joy, peace and balance in a world that seems to be full of uncertainty. My style is warm, interactive and empathic I work with trauma victims, couples, and with individuals in an integrative way, blending psychotherapeutic approaches, with grounding relaxation techniques.
Listening to the narrative of every person's life is fascinating to me. I am empathic, interactive and am a firm believer that good therapy brings results that make people feel more comfortable, empowered, and gives you the strength that is needed to grow. Therapy begins with identifying destructive themes that repeatedly arise, and interfere with one's life. I believe that therapy should be transformative, and provide a healing experience. I am particularly skilled in working with panic disorder/, depression, divorce conflict, and trauma, including sexual abuse.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
