Via a Cognitive/Behavioral approach to treatment, there is a strong emphasis on building self-esteem in our clients and empowering them to take effective control of their lives. Over 30 years experience in the Human Services field: Marriage/Couples counseling, Separation Mediation, Multi-talent in Behavioral Health, Mental health Disorders, Substance abuse & Addiction disorders, and Co-occurring & Dual diagnosis disorders populations. Dedicated as a professional to ensure that the health and well being of the consumers are met and that each consumer receive the proper individualized treatment course of action with professional and ethical implementation. Dr. Burgess is a counseling psychologist and the owner of BB Counseling. Dr. Burgess received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts. Upon graduation, he went on to receive his Master's Degree and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University. Dr. Burgess treats a variety of disorders including but not limited to anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, ocd, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, anger, chronic pain, marriage counseling, and parental counseling. Treatment also includes psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulators, and long term pain medication.

Village Counseling Services provides intensive, individualized Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment by maintaining a small therapist-to-client ratio and by offering DBT skills training in small groups. DBT is a highly practical, evidence-based direct form of therapy which emphasizes working toward the life you want to live by integrating acceptance and change with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and mindfulness.
