I, Ron Silikovitz, Ph.D., am a licensed clinical psychologist. I have offices in West Orange and Elizabeth, New Jersey. My specialty areas include: Forensic psychology (parent coordination, therapeutic visitation, custody/parenting time evaluation, relocation evaluation, risk assessment, personal injury, assessment and treatment of sexual offenders and victims, competency, termination of parental rights and adoption, and expert witness testimony), individual psychotherapy, couples therapy,family therapy.

I help children, teens, adults, couples and families to better understand their temperament so they can experience improved emotional, spiritual and mental health. As the Traveling Counselor, I provide in-home, on-site and teletherapy for life coaching, counseling, therapy and consulting services for individuals, church organizations, family agencies and educational programs. As a public speaker, presentations are unlimited such as parent meetings, churches, mental health events, private events, panels and facilitation of trainings and workshops.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, I have witnessed a lot that has helped me as a psychologist. I am experienced with working with children who have trauma and/or behavioral issues and adults who have mental health issues ranging from minimal stress to schizophrenia. I have worked with families that are dealing with infertility, infidelity, and separation. I am also a certified school psychologist. Hence, I understand academic difficulties and its impact on both the child and parent.

Welcome to First Children! We are a multi-site psychological, counseling, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) center serving children, adolescents, and young adults with autism and their families. At our STRIVE centers, we provide comprehensive autism services to our clients, including early screening and diagnostic testing (using the ADOS-2), ABA, behavioral parent training, and individual and group counseling. Our services also include sibling support groups, family counseling, social skills groups, and school consultation.

I have almost 20 years of experience seeing clients with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, personality disorders, and marital issues. I am also the director of a high school for students with high-functioning autism and/or complex learning disabilities, as well as ADHD. In addition to treating clients with those diagnoses, I also see their close family members who need support and counseling to best interact with and relate to a family member with a mental health struggle, a personality disorder, or a learning disability.
