My specialty is working with young adults who struggle with lack of self-identity, life transition, relationship and dating issues which have caused depression, anxiety, substance use, insecurity and a lack of confidence who would benefit from both psychotherapy and motivational coaching.
There are moments we are going to go through many difficult events and transitions in our lives which may affect us mentally, physically, and emotionally. These areas can stem from a lack of confidence, issues in your relationship and dating experiences, and unawareness of you really are. The confidence you once had is reduced, and you can't find it. There is uncertainty towards what the future has in store, and you're doubting whether it's going to be the brighter future. If this is what you’re experiencing, I understand. I'm here to help restore and improve the new you with more confidence, insight, security and motivation.

I enjoy working with clients of all ages and diversity in navigating challenges with life transitions, depression, anxiety, substance use, interpersonal relations, grief/loss, trauma and cultural issues.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” I'm led by my resolute beliefs in an individual's resiliency to overcome life trials and thrive in the face of adversity when provided with the right environment, tools and resources. I take pride in building a therapeutic relationship with you that feels validating, empowering, mutually transparent and compassionately confrontational. Being a bicultural individual has inspired me to remain open, inquisitive and adaptable to distinctive personal values and ways of life.

Hello! Are you feeling unheard, alone, or even uncertain of your next steps? I know how you feel. For a while, I felt the same. Although I did not always have access to professional support, these feelings were a big motivator in becoming a therapist after studying psychology and social work. I have had the pleasure of working with people of various walks of life: parents struggling with substance issues, young adults finding their identity, women of color experiencing racial issues, to name a few.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
