I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. With over 8 years of experience in the mental health field, I have accumulated skills suited for working with a wide variety of clients, but I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, eating disorders, and substance use.

Jay has field experience working with adults re-adjusting back into the community as they overcome mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Jay has been working with children and adolescents for the past 5 years in a partial hospitalization program, providing group, individual and family therapy across different roles and modalities. Jay has encountered those who are working through depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, ODD, parenting challenges, cultural conflicts, and Autism. Jay takes on a person-centered, nurtured heart approach that allows the client to build a safe and nurturing environment during the therapeutic process.

I have over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families, as well as individual adults, in independent practice, school and hospital settings. While I work with patients presenting with a wide range of issues and concerns I specialize in working with neurologically or developmentally 'atypical' children and adolescents - ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, etc. I often work with those neurodevelopmentally atypical children, adolescent and young adults who don't easily fit into these kinds of standard diagnostic categories. I look for and develop strengths, resiliencies and resources.

We started the Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy with one mission: to help children, adolescents, and young adults live more meaningful and productive lives. Both raising a child and being one are tall orders in today’s climate. And having a psychological condition often compounds the challenges. We envision a world where youth can succeed, both in spite of their challenges and because of them; where they will develop and implement the skills to overcome their challenges; and where they believe that they can accomplish anything to which they put their minds.

There is little in this life I have found more uplifting then helping people overcome challenges and return to experiencing life in the present moment, where there is true peace, joy, and stillness. I believe in the power of each individual to take control of their lives and in doing so - accomplish their goals, feel happy, present and alive. We all benefit from connecting to a trusted source we can share deeply personal things with, opening ourselves in vulnerable ways with no risk of judgment. Victor Perez is a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey who has been practicing since 2018. He is a Drew University CLA13 alumni with a double B.A. in Psychology and Spanish, completed his master’s degree in counseling from Kean University, CLA18, and is currently working on completing a Ph.D. in counseling and supervision, also from Kean University.
