I am also able to utilize a Faith Based Approach as a Christian Counselor to help you process trauma and overcome it understanding your purpose and calling in life.
Maybe you struggle with depression, anxiety, feelings of unhappiness or unfulfillment. Sometimes life’s adversities take the best of us, and leave us lost, feeling numb or trapped in a cycle of self sabotaging behaviors that perpetuate our suffering. Whether it is the sudden rupture of a relationship, abuse, a traumatic loss, a divorce, abandonment, or work related stressors, I view these experiences as opportunities to grow into a better version of the self. I commend you for being brave and contemplating the thought of a better present, leaving past hurt behind, and embracing healing with therapy.

Have you ever had the thought that you can’t remember what it’s like to NOT feel anxious? Does your mind continuously operate on overdrive? Are you tired of the same repetitive thought patterns? Is life feeling like one endless chore with no light at the end of the tunnel? Have you ever told yourself you know you need to make a change, but you can't muster the will power to follow through? Do you feel stuck in your relationship patterns but don't know what or how to change? If you answered yes to any of the above, we might be a great match. I believe that great therapy involves using many lenses or frameworks in order to heal. 10/12

I believe that a person's faith is an important resource in their recovery, and I am dedicated to wisely integrating the Christian faith with professional psychological therapies.
It has been my privilege helping people rapidly heal from trauma both past and present incorporating God's guidance with proven psychological techniques-i.e., EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, and Imago Therapy. I like it when I hear someone say that they can never get over some hurt in their life and then be able, with God's help, to get them past it to a place of peace with what happen. In addition I work with ADHD ( adult & adolescent ), addictions, ACOA, couple counseling, marital problems, divorce recovery , anxiety, Depression, unresolved grief issues, interventions, PTSD, DID, panic attacks....

Life is hard: frustrations and stress are mounting and you're not coping as well as you'd like. Even as a Christian believer, you may be feeling discouraged, confused, stuck. Have you lost pleasure in things you would normally enjoy? Are "what-ifs" feeding your anxieties and doubts? What's getting in the way? Has your family been impacted by addiction? Perhaps there's trauma or loss that needs healing. Maybe you're fatigued by the battles you're fighting with your own or a loved one's health, or even as a military veteran who is now out of uniform.

My name is Christian, and welcome to my practice. Parakaleo is a Koine Greek word that means “to call alongside.” It was a way to describe a counselor – one who walks alongside you to encourage, strength, and comfort. In a digital age when everyone is becoming more connected but alone at the same time, it is hard to discern the competing voices inside your mind and heart. I hope to walk alongside you during this season to help you find that voice inside that you need hear, and unlock its resonance – in your challenges, passions, and relationships.

For over 50 years I have been on a spiritual journey as a Christian.
For over 25 years it has been my passion to help men and women become the person they want to be. My clients find me compassionate, accepting, understanding, and caring. I have a heart for working with men, especially, in all their areas of woundedness. Those wounds can be expressed in covert depression, relational problems, anxiety, perfectionism, feeling disconnected, and compulsive sexual behaviors. I also have an expertise in working with individuals whose personal faith in God is important to them. However, I respect and work well with those with no belief in God or beliefs different than mine.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
