I recognize the courage it takes to seek support, and I hold a firm belief that my clients already have all the tools they need to live the lives they have sought to lead, it is simply a matter of uncovering these tools, refining them, and learning to use them in new and healthier ways.
I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults regarding a variety of emotion-based challenges, including attention and impulsivity, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, self-injury, and school difficulties. Through an eclectic approach to therapy, I aim to help my clients build skills in the area of emotion regulation, self-awareness, and relational engagement in order to reduce barriers to a healthy and joy-filled life across all domains: family and home, school, and peer relationships.

One thing that I do like people to know about me is that I can enjoy laughter often and can adapt to many different thinking or learning patterns.
One of the life lessons I have learned through my practice and life experiences is that we may know what the next right thing may be, but getting there oftentimes requires support, guidance, and self-trust. I truly believe we are all doing the very best we can with our present skill sets. Sometimes we may already have existing support systems and still may not know which path to choose. Other times we feel alone in moving forward and confused about if our choices are “right.” This is where I am hoping to help support you. I am a believer in the team effort.

I also offer comprehensive assessments for ADHD, learning disorders, and psychological concerns.
Accepting new patients for psychological assessments only, not ongoing therapy! When we meet, it is in the forefront of my mind that making initial contact and coming to an appointment with a therapist can be daunting. In our work together, you are the experts on your experience. I use genuine curiosity and empathy to gain a true understanding of what is going on. Together, we can discuss how my experience and training can assist you. Therapy is not "one size fits all," and I encourage clients to be open in sessions about what is working (and perhaps more importantly, what is not!).

I work best with individuals in which are internally motivated for change, looking to work collaboratively alongside the individual to explore depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, substance abuse, and much more. My approach to therapy is person-centered, focused on offering a compassionate, yet straightforward approach to growth, which encourages individuals to think deeper and build connections that will assist them with a better understanding of the underlying issues. I believe in creating and modeling a healthy human connection to make those feel safe as possible in a time for many that can feel vulnerable.

Are you feeling hopeless about the possibility of having joy again? In the middle of a storm, when it is windy, dark and hard to see, it can be challenging to remember that the sun will shine again and brighter days are ahead. Similarly, it can be difficult to recognize that there is hope and beauty on the other side of emotional pain, trauma and the devastation of grief and loss. My goal is to help guide you to a place where you will believe that there is hope ahead. I have experience working with clients who are seeking therapy for a variety of reasons including relational trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and relationship issues.

I have 23 years of training and experience working with adults who struggle with low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and anger. I'm also very experienced with clients working on transitions such as going to college, new job, marriage, starting a family, a divorce, or coping with a past or recent trauma. I've worked for many years in drug treatment too. I think clients are looking for a way to gain insight and awareness of how challenges effect their thinking, and want to learn new skills to improve how they feel and function in the world.

Education and Learning Disabilities Therapists
How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?
When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.
When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?
It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.
What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?
Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.
Are there medications for learning disabilities?
Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
