I have worked extensively with adolescents, at risk children, and adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, anger management issues, self-esteem issues, behavioral issues, and substance abuse issues. I also work with children and adults who have suffered trauma and experience symptoms of PTSD, ADHD, and ADD. I sometimes incorporate physical activity into the therapeutic process. This "active therapy" can be especially helpful in working with issues of self esteem, anxiety, depression, and addiction. In addition to "active therapy", I have also found that meditation and mindfulness can be especially helpful for children who have trouble with focus and concentration.
In today's technological society, it can be challenging to remain centered and grounded. This can lead to anxiety, an inability to focus and concentrate, behavioral issues, lack of social skills, and other issues that are rooted in fear. Mindfulness and meditation can help connect us to our inner wisdom.
This mindful connection can help us to be more aware of our triggers, the issues at hand, and can help us to make better/healthier choices. In other words, we are much more able to stop and think before we react when we are in a state of mindfulness.
