As a neurodivergent counselor who has been diagnosed with ADHD, I have found myself experiencing similar life situations as my clients. I feel it is important for those with symptoms ADHD, depression, and anxiety to embrace their authentic self rather than continuing to participate in the cycle of suffering.
Often fully capable clients feel shamed, guilty, embarrassed, or incompetent in their daily struggle to meet deadlines, improve work productivity, please others, be a parent, pay bills on time, or even follow simple directions- to name a few.
Life does not need to feel so heavy and disappointing, and the potential to end the cycle of suffering daily is obtainable for many people. Therapy should be tailored to each person’s unique needs rather than a “one size fits all” approach.
