I am not accepting new clients at this time (updated 7/8). I am a marriage and family therapist that believes therapy is something that happens with you, not to you. I am licensed to meet with clients in New York, Massachusetts, Florida and New Hampshire. My style is one that is collaborative, transparent, patient, compassionate, insight oriented, emotionally focused and strength-based. I have experience working with all ages but have focused the majority of my practice on working with adult professionals, college students, couples, and parents.

Life is not always easy, and often feels unfair. Whether you are suffering with depression, difficulty adjusting to change or struggling with an eating disorder, I believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Acceptance and change take courage, and nothing is harder than asking for help - but if you are searching for a therapist, then you have taken that first step towards healing and moving forward.

Life’s challenges can alter our perception of ourselves, others, and the world we live in. We can lose sight of our strengths and abilities and we often put others needs before our own. When we disconnect from our needs and desires, we in turn feel disconnected from ourselves and others. Through therapy, we can learn to reconnect to the parts of ourselves we have neglected and learn to prioritize our needs and wants. I aim to provide a warm and non-judgmental space that allows for growth as well as relief from the burdens you are carrying each day.

My comprehensive approach to counseling integrates the psychological and spiritual aspects of life in a way which not only treats painful symptoms but also heals the underlying emotional wounds. I believe that empathic listening without judging is the foundation of emotinal healing.Therapy is a process of gaining a wider perspective which reveals how past trauma are connected to present problems.Greater mindfulness reveals how old, problematic response patterns can be discarded and replaced by new and better ones.

(Note: Formerly Wolf-Stanton Psychotherapy) We all experience some sort of pain, stress, trauma, or adversity in our personal lives and relationships. When our hearts ache, we search for ways to cope. These initial ways of coping often are adaptive in the short term. However, in the longer term, these same coping strategies may hinder further growth and healing. You and I can work together without judgment to dismantle painful experiences and cultivate a strong, empowered, and healthy core sense of self. You can realize your full potential and mobilize into healthy and constructive patterns of thought, behavior, and emotion.

Does no one get how anxious, frustrated or checked out you feel? It's so hard to be misunderstood. Trauma, family pressure, relationship issues; these things can have you stuck in a cycle of unhappiness. These experiences may even have you anxious, depressed, and seeking relief through using substances. You’ve tried everything you can to address issues on your own. You want someone to actually help you. Despite it being hard, you're willing to ask for help. I want you to know that you can feel more connected, whole, energized and fulfilled. I am dedicated to helping you, using somatic therapy to link the mind, body and spirit.

I work with a variety of folxs who are interested in using the art process to promote physical and psychosocial well-being. We will explore traditional studio and folk art techniques to identify inner imagery, invite dialogue and gain self- awareness through expressive art making and story work. For 20 years I worked in the public schools integrating art therapy into the reading curriculum to help students overcome reading challenges and insecurities. I have also worked with women and children escaping domestic violence, women survivors of rape and incest and people wanting to address stress, anxiety, guilt and shame.

I am currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth therapy. I understand how difficult it can be for some to ask for help. Whether you're considering entering therapy for the first time, or have prior experience, the first priority is on developing a sense of safety in the therapy session. Once a trusting connection is developed, I allow the client to identify their own goals. I believe therapy is about change, but the type of change we work toward and the pace with which we work, is determined by the client. I provide support and guidance in this process.

At Alliance Counseling, I aim to help children thrive at their highest potential. I approach each child with the understanding that they are doing their best and come with their own inherent strengths and abilities. Difficulties with self-regulation may create barriers for some children to use these skills and abilities most effectively. My services aim to reduce those barriers. I value and respect the expertise that each parent or caregiver has of their child. Treatment takes a collaborative approach, combining the knowledge and experience of families with my clinical expertise as an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider.

Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, careers and their lives. FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fayetteville?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
