I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples from all different backgrounds, across race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability. I have particular empathy and compassion for any client who feels their path in life has not followed that of the majority or who have felt marginalized in some way. I also have extensive experience in working with adolescents and adults in the LGBTQ community in therapy. I believe therapy should be collaborative between myself and clients - I bring education and training to our therapy and you bring the most expertise on yourself.
I use therapies based on strong scientific evidence, like CBT and ACT. I have received specialized training in couple therapy, treatment of PTSD, and in clinical work with LGBTQ individuals and couples. My approach is affirming, friendly, and client-focused. I believe humor should have a respected place in therapy. Laughter is good medicine.
Therapy should be focused on you and solutions we develop in treatment together should be grounded in your beliefs and everyday life. That is what makes the work in therapy most transportable into your life outside of the therapy office. If you are feeling stuck or unhappy in important parts of your life, I encourage you to take the hard step and reach out.

When you come to me for individual therapy, I typically work with you for 10-12 session using a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach, and will include other research-supported therapies as needed. In couple therapy, our first session will be an assessment all of us together, followed by one-on-one assessments with each partner, followed by 10-15 sessions of treatment as a couple.

In our first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy, your social, work/educational, family, and medical history, and any past treatment experiences you've had. This will help me understand you better so we can work together to set collaborative goals that we can measure our progress towards. Most patients see some symptom improvement after the first one to two months of therapy.
